This rich and luscious brew indulges in flavor with over 28Ibs of pumpkin per barrel, for a full bodied sweetness and deep russet color. Classic pumpkin pie spices of cinnamon, ginger, nutmeg, and allspice ignite a warmth and spark that’s deepened by an undercurrent of roasty smoked malts. The result is a delectable brew full of enveloping layers of flavor and spice. At Samuel Adams we love experimenting. This series of limited edition brews represents some of our favorite small batch creations. Style: Pumpkin Beer Hops: East Kent Goldings, Fuggle Malts: Samuel Adams Two-Row Pale Malt Blend, Caramel 60, Special B, Smoked Malt Extras: Real Pumpkin, Cinnamon, Ginger, Nutmeg, Allspice

Initially released on tap as "Double Pumpkin" in 2011, it was bottled as "Fat Jack Double Pumpkin" in 2012.

Served on tap @ The Vortex in Midtown Atlanta. Served in a goblet with a dark orange, near blood-red color. Practically no head to speak of and minimal lacing. Aroma is rather restrained, but sweetness predominates, mainly due to pumpkin pie spices (nutmeg, mainly). But there is really a (brown) sugar profile to the aroma. Flavor is likewise sweet, propelled by sugars and aided by faint alcohol. Spices--nutmeg, allspice, and clove--are detectible in the background. Toasted malts are there, too, but very faint. Palate is smooth and just slightly slick despite the carbonation--suits the beer just fine. In sum, a solid beer that’s probably more pumpkin than ale, but no slouch. Comparable to Weyerbacher Imperial Pumpkin in flavor but more distinctly more sugary than the major pumpkin beers of the season.

650ml bottle kindly shared by Finn. The pour reveals a decent fawn-coloured head resting on top of a deep, mahogany coloured body. Satisfying glass-lacing. Good looking, indeed! Rather perfumed like smell of caramel malts and pumpkin. Flavoured with a quite nice blend of citrus shells, pumpkin and dark malts as well as mild dark spices. More sweet than bitter to the ending. Fine bodied. Nice sipper (Tromsø 09.04.2014).

Reviewed from notes. The appearance had a dark brown/black colored body and left a one finger white foamy head that lasted less than twenty seconds. The body was too dark for any carbonation to be seen rising. Some nice light yet filmy/foamy lacing appeared but settled and slid down the sides of the glass. The smell was superb as not just pumpkin, but allspice, ginger, clove, some slight molasses and cinnamon speckled themselves throughout the entire "pumpkin" aroma. Big wow (at least to me). The taste had all of these typical flavorings and added a slight caramel flavoring, a bit of malt and some extra rich dark fruitiness to it. The palate sat about a medium with nothing harsh on the tongue. This wasn’t exactly a very drinkable beer, could be close to a palate wrecker with all that was going on with it. It has a sweet dry finish. Overall, though not very drinkable, I really liked this, probably would have been better if I saved this just a tad longer. This is a very good "pumpkin" ale.

Bottle at Yespr’s - thanks! It pours clear ruby-brown with a small beige head. The nose is squash/pumpkin, wood, light tang, varnish, orange peel, spice, earth toast and light smoke. The taste is wood, pumpkin, earth, toast, stewed orange, candy, raisin, sultana, light alcohol and spice. Medium body and moderate carbonation. Alright.

With everyone and their Mom’s doing a pumpkin ale around August, I figured I would have to get on the ball here. Aroma of pumpkin pie, nutmeg and ginger, some caramel malts. Taste is similar except there is a weird sweaty body odor in the finish that’s not appetizing. Won’t be coming back.
