3.5 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 16/20
Served on tap @ The Vortex in Midtown Atlanta. Served in a goblet with a dark orange, near blood-red color. Practically no head to speak of and minimal lacing. Aroma is rather restrained, but sweetness predominates, mainly due to pumpkin pie spices (nutmeg, mainly). But there is really a (brown) sugar profile to the aroma. Flavor is likewise sweet, propelled by sugars and aided by faint alcohol. Spices--nutmeg, allspice, and clove--are detectible in the background. Toasted malts are there, too, but very faint. Palate is smooth and just slightly slick despite the carbonation--suits the beer just fine. In sum, a solid beer that’s probably more pumpkin than ale, but no slouch. Comparable to Weyerbacher Imperial Pumpkin in flavor but more distinctly more sugary than the major pumpkin beers of the season.

Deep brown ruby tinged body. Mild pumpkin nutmeg aroma. Thin tan head. Taste is malt spice nutmeg and of course pumpkin. Smooth, rich and warming down the throat.

This beer pours a dark copper color with a thick off white head with plenty of lacing left around the glass. The aroma is pumpkin, cinnamon, and some spices. The flavor is pumpkin but not overly sweet like some pumpkin beers granted i am drinking this beer past its season so that may have a factor. I also pick up some spices and slight amount of alcohol.

3.1 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
Bomber from LCBO, served cold in a tulip glass.
App.: Clear deep copper with a full tan head.
Aroma: Rich sweet maltiness with fairly balanced spices, lightly fruity, toffee and brown sugar, clove, cinnamon, allspice and ginger (I think...), big stuff.
Palate: Medium+ body, moderate carbonation, lightly syrupy.
Flav.: Similar to the nose with a big, thick, rich malt backbone supporting the usual array of pumpkin spices; lightly sweet with decent bitterness, some booze and a long, crunchy malt and spice finish.

Veyr impressive for a Sam Adams brew. Lots of allspice, cinnamon flavors that make this a bit of a spicy pumpkin beer. Nice malty undertones give it a complex body instead of the typical flat pumpkin ales you see everywhere else. Good seasonal.

3.9 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
Pours a deep amber colour with a beige frothy head, good retention and nice creamy lacing. Sweet malt aromas with the caramel and pumpkin pie spices. The taste starts on the sweetness, but less than expected from the scent. The spices balance out the caramel and even some hops show up. Bread notes from the malts lingers. Very smooth going down (oily and silky). Hope the LCBO gets this one every year.

3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
Translucent crimson brown. Quickly dissipating mid sized head. Pleasant caramel, malt, cinnamon, nutmeg and dried fruit aroma. No pumpkin though. Absolutely fantastic. Mid bodied and creamy with a potent taste consisting of nutmeg, cinnamon, caramel, malt, a wee bit of pumpkin, and alcohol. Finish is sweet caramel with some minor hop. Quite good but less emphasis on spice and more emphasis on pumpkin would be optimal.

Let this one sit for about 30 mins. Chilled the taste is lacking some of elements of the beer, this issue is due to all spice. As the beer warms the pumpkin develops more of a presence and lessens the all spice.

Surprisingly tasty pumpkin ale, even more surprising that it came from Sam Adams. Dark brown rust color poured from a 1 pint 6 oz bottle. Pretty good stuff.

Deep amber pour with a thick tan head. The aroma is sweet and spicy. A little bit boozy with some earthy hoppiness and a touch of pumpkin. There is a light sticky caramel flavour and a bit of toffee. Decent brew.
