2.6 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 10/20
Yellow to golden in color. Smells of corn and grain. A little hay in flavor and low bitterness. Could be a little more bitter and have more nobble hop character.

Golden special pilsner. Nice golden colour with a nice long lasting head. Aroma of hops and malts. Flavour is nice malty with good fruity hops, little bit sour. A really true and very tasty pilsener.

UPDATED: OCT 20, 2006 This was the first Sam Adams brew I ever had. It is discontinued but WOW , what a taste. This beer started my love affair with Sam Adams. Beautiful Golden color, smooth taste. A great summer beer. I wish they still made it. I asked the guy at the brewery if it will ever make a come back, he said you never know.

I’m reminded of urine when pouring it. And probably would be when drinking it, but I have never been stranded, away from water long enough to have been reduced to sampling urine, but something tells me this is very close.

4.3 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
This one might not get a lot of hype, but this beer is actually one of the BBC’s very best. Stylistically, it is a very accurate example of pilsner, and is a very crisp, clean, very drinkable beer. Pours to a beautiful, bright, deep golden color, with a nice white head that slowly fades, and a good bit of carbonation. The nose is very nice, with good, crisp, pilsner malt aroma, paired with some light, herbal hop aroma. The palate is firm, with good pilsner malt flavor, on a very round, and clean body. This beer finishes with more good crisp pilsner malt up front, then ends with good herbal hop bittereness that balances this beer out. Impressive domestic example of pilsner, very food friendly, and very, very drinkable.

UPDATED: JAN 2, 2008 Very crisp with mild fruity apricothint to the aroma. Balanced with just the right amount of malt on the finish- a good pilsner without the skunkiness you get from some pils.

Not bad at all. True a bit thin & watery though a pilsner shouldn’t be thick of body. Nice straw & golden colors. Fresh, crisp taste where the hops are well balanced with malt undertones. A more than fair offering.
