4.6 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 10/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 19/20
Smells of light citrus and very light malt. Not bad, but aroma overall was very weak. Looks great, medium-dark hazy orange with a frothy off-white foam. The taste is one of deceptive ABV. Has a moderate sweetness and light bitterness, with bitterness coming through stronger on the aftertaste, which makes it easy to drink despite it’s high ABV. Has a medium body, though it might actually be heavier and *feel* lighter due to the (average) carbonation, which is more than the typical barleywine it seems. Long bitter finish, which helps round out the initial sweetness. Overall this is a great beer, and an interesting take on the barleywine style.

Straight out the bottle It sucked. It was sickeningly sweet smelling, appallingly sweet tasting with a slight battery acid burn at the end.

2.3 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 8/20
Bottle (probably been in the fridge three years). Caramel color with foamy oatmeal head. Smells really sweet and boozy. Tastes really sweet. It dropped a bomb on me, baby, a malt bomb on me.

3.4 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
Bottle is 1 year old. Pours deep amber/brown with 1 finger head that quickly dissipates. Aroma of bubblegum, aged fruit, booze, cotton candy. High carbonation for style. Taste of hop bitterness, caramel, pecans, and oak. Medium body. Finish with mild booze and subtle hop bitterness. Overall, decent, not amazing due to harshness

22oz bottle -
One of the few whiffs from Samuel Adams. I like the idea of doing a barleywine outside the proveribal "box", but it just doesn’t work very well. Aroma is light vanilla, rock-candy, light oak and some oxidized/tropical-fruit combo. Taste has a strange banana/mango angle with a strong prescence of plastic. Honey, burnt sugar and alcohol also present. Seemed like a Belgian ale combined with a barleywine and it took the lesser qualities of each style to make this beer.

4.1 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
"i was pretty impressed with the craftsmanship & uniqueness (as far as barleywines go) of this brew. honey, caraeml and vanilla undertones the citrusy hops (especially in the aroma) and alcohol backbone. perhaps a touch too much alcohol in this beer (i would have liked it at 10% even more). the aspects in the aroma and flavor seem to clash, then blend harmoniously together. smooth body, evident oaking. interesting and tasty beer at a decent price. I’d recommend."
