Dark gold with white head...poured by Jim Koch himself! I don’t think it’s an IPA, belgian ale more like it, but I do think it was pretty good. Big mouthfeel and thick, with a lot of spice and sweetness.
3.4 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20 Hangover (980) - Atlanta, Alabama, USA - JUN 10, 2012
Dark golden pour with a huge white head. Aroma faint, with yeast and bread notes. Mouthfeel is nice, medium carbonation. Flavor has more of tthe grain/bread/dough maltiness with a little bit of citrus on the back end. A bit peppery and spicy on the back end. Not too far from the description. It’s ok... a bit different. A bit astringent but definitely drinkable.

Pours a golden orange color. Smells and tastes Belgiany. Has some bitterness in the finish. Decent brew.

Bottle. Aroma is of yeast and malt. Taste is very yeasty with a slight IPA bite at the end. Very good mix, like these belgian/ipa mixes. 5.7% abv.

3.1 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20 jatman1988 (9) - - JUN 8, 2012 does not count
Pours a lightly burnt orange, with fluffy white head that quickly dissapated. bannana aroma with a slight pineyness. tastes like a fairly hoppy belgian...not quite an IPA though. smooth mouth feel. Wish it had more intense hop bitterness and more belgian fruityness. just a little weaker than I was expecting. A good beer to introduce someone to belgian IPAs.

12oz bottle in the Samuel Adams IPA Hop-Ology pack. Pours a light copper color with off-white head. Aroma of pine, some Belgian yeast and spice. Taste is some fruit, malt and some hoppiness. Finished with a mild bitterness. Nice balanced beer, cool name too.
3 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 11/20 auerbrau (2954) - Peace Dale, Rhode Island, USA - JUN 7, 2012
12oz Bottle. Thanks for sharing, Rob. I’m not sure how Sam Adams managed to push out a whole mixed 12 pack of hoppy beers and remove most of the flavor from all of them. What part of this is Belgian? Aside from a faint hint of spice and fruit. The hops are missing too. At least this wasn’t a muddled odd mess, but it’s largely flavorless for a style that’s huge on flavor.
3.6 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20 Elwood (2493) - Leesburg, Virginia, USA - JUN 5, 2012
Serving: 12 oz. bottle from Wegmans Leesburg. It pours a light copper color with a pillow off white head. The nose has medium pine, medium Belgian yeast, and clove. The flavor has a little banana and clove but a straight forward pine bitterness pushes it out. Very even on the tongue with a hint of sweetness but a fairly dry finish. Not heavy, but not watery either. A nice blending of styles.

Not what I would call a belgian IPA. A hint of a hoppy finish with nothing else there, no real flavor
