3.7 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
Clear copper pour with a 2 finger, creamy beige head that has great retention and leaves nice thin sheets of lacing. Tons of belgian yeast character in the aroma, sharp fruity notes, stone fruit, mineral, wet limestone mineral funk, a little banana, fruity, citrus, spice and light pine hops, and toasty, cereal, Pilsener-like malt. As it warms some pine and more spicy hop notes come out in the aroma and, to a lesser extent, the flavor. Flavor starts off with lots of toast, light nutty notes, mineral, spicy hops, light caramel, stone fruit and under ripe apple esters, wet limestone, hints of grass and tea, light vegetal notes, a little caramel and decent citrus to the finish. Palate has a light to medium body, oily entry, lighter, thinner and pretty dry finish, and medium strength, sharp and blanketing carbonation. Good stuff overall, could use a bit more American or Pacific hop influence to really make it great.

On tap. Darker pour. Belgian yeast well balanced with mild hoppiness; definitely more of a Belgian presence than American hop.

Spicy with a great piney aftertaste. It has the rare virtue of being both bold and smooth.

Bursting with flavor. Maybe too much flavor though. IPA drinkers should like, I however am not.

3.4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
12oz. bottle poured into my ipa glass. Pours a clear dark amber color with thick fluffy off white head that leaves great lacing. Smells of Belgian yeast, cloves citrus and floral. Tastes of all the same things in the smell with a decent hop presence in the back end. Mouthfeel is medium with decent carbonation and a dry finish. Itís a decent take on a Belgian ipa but there are quite a few others that are better out there. I like the way the citrus hop flavor mixes with the Belgian yeast though.
