3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
12 oz bottle: Aroma is spicy, pumpkin, caramel malts, and a very light note of grassy hops. Appearance is a clear dark amber to almost a ruby red with a medium tan head that lingers. Taste is nutmeg and spice forward then a bit of the pumpkin makes it way through. At the back end a slight kiss of malt and the hops are almost totally masked. I like this beer. It’s got a nice pumpkin note and isn’t a total spice bomb that overwhelms your taste buds. Overall, Quality. Cheers!

2.5 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 10/20
Bottle and served in pint glass: Deep amber near brown hue with a fading fizzy head and spotty lace. The aroma has notes of cinnamon, nutmeg, clove, pumpkin meat, caramel, toasted bread, and a touch of earthy yeast esters. Sort of weak nose, faint and hard to grasp. The flavor profile gives a nod to the style but much like the nose is a tad weak and simple. Sweet caramel malts supported by light spice notes and not much else. The mouth feel is sort of slick and lively, gummy finish. Boy, compared to the SA Double Pumpkin I had on tap, this is the fugly step sister. Dumbed down for the masses, sad really.

3.5 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 14/20
Bottle from Harvest Collection 12-pack. Moderate hint of pumpkin in the nose. Reddish, orange body. Nice, pumpkin flavor. Most pumpkin beers are quite frankly awful. As usual, Sam Adams comes through with a professionally done, flawless brew. Doesn’t push the envelope, but being content to be a top 5 pumpkin ale isn’t a bad thing.

2.9 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 11/20
Pours a deeper amber with a light tan head that doesn’t last long. Aroma is pumpkin, cinnamon, and spice. Taste is mostly pumpkin, with quite a bit of yeasty notes. Still some cinnamon also. A little sweet and very dry when drinking. This has a yeasty aftertaste. More lighter in body. I don’t find this overly complex. Nothing really jumps out. Those that like the taste of pumpkin would probably enjoy this more than I do.

4.2 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 18/20
Strong nutmeg aroma that makes you think of Thanksgiving. Head retention is lacking. Great caramel flavor I suspect from caramelization of the pumpkins’ sugars.

2.6 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 6/20
Nice amber pour. Pumpkin spices are subtle enough to make this drinkable for me. Not a huge pumpkin fan but this is ok

3.3 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
Dark, clear, orange-brown with a small, quickly gone beige head. Aroma of pumpkin pie, toast, and sweet fruit. Taste is malty and sweet, fruity, and mildly spiced and bitter. Light-medium bodied, slightly dry. Decent beer, light on pumpkin, but enjoyable.

3.1 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
Pours a clear orange/brown with a full antique lace head. Roasted malt and pumpkin pie aroma. Has a dominant flavor of sweet roasted and caramel malt, but also a butteriness and even, I think, some licorice character I wasn’t expecting. The pumpkin is not nearly as evident in the taste as in the aroma and there is a vegital element that is a bit off-putting. Seems like a good brown ale with the fall holiday character one would expect, but I’m not overly impressed. Not as balanced as it should be.
