3.7 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
Amber pour with a off-white head. Aroma is pumpkin and spice. Medium sweetness (not overpowering) and light bitterness, with pumpkin and spices. The pumpkin could have been overbearing but isn’t.

3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
Frothy white head that quickly dissipates into nothing. Darker brownish, bronze color. Like autumn leaves. Heh. Aromas not bad- a nice hint of allspice with a citrussy, woodsy, oaky note. Medium-bodied with a nice caramelly malt flavor. Not much in the way of pumpkin in the taste though. Maybe a slight peppery note in the finish. By no means a great example of the style, but still rather thirst-quenching and quaffable on an autumn’s eve.

2 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 8/20
12 oz bottle pours amber with a white head. Aroma is malt and spices. Taste is heavy spice and the malt. I think it had too much spice.

3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
Appearance: deep and dense cherry and mahogany woods. Khaki head is thick, lingering long with a smooth creamy appearance. Lace from first quaff to last.
Nose: massive amounts of dense and pungent spice surrounded by cooked pumpkin. Allspice, nutmeg, cinnamon, ginger along the sides. Brown sugar and cinnamon melt together in ooey gooey caramelized goodness.
Palate: intense middle and finish, light in the front. Chewy with pie crust followed by spices and pumpkin essence. Chocolate powder in the finish. Caramel apple skins on top of the tongue. Pumpkin joins chocolate in the finish while also lingering on the breath. A pervasive presence of the seasons – fall leaves gold red brown and yellow, rakes, and bonfires. Grows denser and richer as it warms – dried plums and prunes join the fray. Borders on overwhelming with richness and intensity of flavors. Carrot juice.
Final Thoughts: for Samuel Adams this was one massive beer with zero indication of the typical house yeast. Big, bold, chewy, and definitely ripe for the season. I craved multiple holiday treats while supping the Harvest Pumpkin Ale, top of the list being pie – apple, pumpkin, and berry.

3.4 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
A dark amber color with an off-white head. Heavy on the spices, mostly nutmeg and all spice with a bit of cinnamon. Toasted malt and bread aromas with a light sweetness of toffee. The flavor has a nice subtle vanilla note along with the spices. A little bit of gingerbread character to it as well. Not much actual pumpkin to it, but a pretty decent beer anyway.

3.4 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
Twelve ounce bottle from Samuel Adams sampler pack bought at Kroger in Dent. tasted on September 4, 2011. Dark amber hue, small tan head, moderate aroma of pumpkin and spices, somewhat oily texture, sweet spicy taste with a fair amount of pumpkin and enough biterness to keep things from getting cloying. Thankfully, the spices don’t overwhelm the rest of the flavor. Good seasonal offering.

3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 12/20
Refrigerated bottle poured into a shaker. Pours clear amber with a reddish hue and two finger head off-white head that dissapates fairly quickly. A little lacing, medium/light body, low/medium carbonation, and pumpkin aroma. Taste is slightly toasty slightly malty nutmeg, pumpkin, and a hint of cinnamon.

spicy, cinnamon, clove, nutmeg, slight sweet fruit, medium amber hue, fairly clear, taste, the spice mixture in this was well balanced, very even cinnamon, clove, like a pumpkin pie throughout, then the sweetness from the malt and pumpkin, overall, I really like this as a pumpkin beer, well balanced not a onslant of spice, would like to see abv higher, around 7.5 percent

A little too vegetable-y for me. Nice aroma though and very drinkable. Good for a seasonal 6 pack, not case.

3.3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
One of the better Pumpkin beers I have had. Seems to be well balanced and rich in flavor. Need to find this in a 6 pack next year. Very enjoyable.
