A perennial favorite at our Brewery Halloween party, this reddish amber ale is perfect for fall. Real pumpkin adds a full body and sweetness, while deep roasted malts lend a toasty finish to this subtly spiced brew.

Slightly sweet aroma, with a touch of rich spices. Pours a clear reddish color, with just a dusting of head. The pumpkin is noticeable in the flavor, as is the spicing. The spicing is in the finish, and isn’t as overpowering as some pumpkin beers are. Light on the palate, with a lingering finish. Not bad, but I wouldn’t go out of my way for it.

A gorgeous orange and tan color and delicious spices. While I did taste some pumpkin, it was mostly in the background. But those warm, delectable pumpkin pie spices were right up front. Cinnamon, nutmeg, clove, they’re all there. It was still refreshing and crisp, too. And even though it is heavily spiced, it is fantastically well balanced.

12 oz. bottle. Pour dark reddish orange with a small beige head. The aroma is unmistakable pumpkin pie, with notes of pumpkin, brown sugar and cinnamon. The flavor is very malty sweet with a little spicy burnt malts and very little hops. The palate is medium, a little grainy, and sticky. The finish is short and mildly bitter. Overall, this is another sam adams that matches the flavor gimmick. Fun, but not really a good beer.

Clear reddish orange pour with a thin off white head .... aroma is of pumpkin spices cinnamon, nutmeg and ginger and some earthy roasted qualities .... taste is a decent balance of pumpkin spices and earthy pumpkin with a slight roasted feel .... the mouthfeel is a bit watery and thin .... finishes with a spicy ginger kick and dry not bad

Bottle poured to glass. Shallow off-white tan head. Clear Reddish amber color. Roasty and malty. Finishes semi-dry with a little caramel. Nothing to look at, nothing to smell, but very decent taste. I feared a too sweet pumpkiny flavor, but that wasn’t the case at all.

Serving glass: Poured from bottle into Nonic Pint. Appearance: Dark reddish-amber, but very little head and no lacing. Color is nice, but could have used a little more pizzaz. Aroma: Pumpkin, clove, cinnamon, and ginger upfront. Some light caramel and toasted malt underneath. Taste: While there are pumpkin spice flavors going on, initial impression is of a light toasted and roasted amber ale with a barely sweet caramel backbone. Then the pumpkin and spices (clove, cinnamon and nutmeg especially) rise up and provide balance. Ends with spicy English hops contributing to the actual spices. Palate: Moderate carbonation, medium body, semi-dry finish. Overall: Very well balanced and drinkable Pumpkin Ale. Extremely good for a non-Imperial.

12oz bottle. Clear copper color with a thin line of head. Aromas of spice, pumpkin, caramel malt, and cinnamon. Flavor has lots of deep malt with just enough sweetness and spice. Surprisingly good pumpkin ale from Sam Adams.

really liking this beer, tastes like oktoberfest with pumpkin pie, not overdone, but the pumpkin flavor is done very nicely, and subtly, but not so little that you cannot taste it, perfectly done for me, not a huge pumpkin beer fan but this is nice

Bottle. Pours clear dark copper/amber with an average, frothy light tan head, medium retention with good lacing. Aroma is heavy caramel and biscuit malt with nutmeg, cinnamon, and allspice notes, and light squash/vegetable notes. Flavor is moderate malt with light hop spiciness and well-balanced pumpkin pie spices. Finish is dry. Medium body and carbonation, low warmth.

Dark amber pour with reddish tints. Aroma holds caramel, molasses, toasted malt, and good pumpkin notes. Flavor actually loses some of the nice dark malt undertones, but still tasty pumpkin spiciness. Light body, drinkable. Pretty solid.
