Never tried a pumpkin ale before, so I got this in a variety pack. A little sweet, but better than expected.

Orange-amber pour into thick orangish-tan head that quickly dissipates into a ring of foamy bubbles around the glass. Aroma of citrusy caramel and allspice. Initial flavor of malty pumpkin bread that fades into roasty yam-like finish as the pumpkin spice becomes more apparent.

3 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 12/20
Nice amber color with a nice caramel taste from the roasted malts. Pumpkin spice is muted...which may be a good thing as some of the beers of this style completely overdo it.

3.4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
UPDATED: SEP 28, 2011 Tasted from a 12 ounce bottle purchased in Denver, Colorado. Slightly darker amber than most Pumpkin beers. Spice hints in aroma are less pronounced and flavor is most pumpkin-like than many other Pumpkin beers.

3.4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
A pretty decent version of this fall favorite. Heavy baking spices in the nose. Plenty of pumpkin and Cinnamon in the palate, very pie-like. Appearance is nice, dark amber, not much with head/retention/lacing though.

2.8 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 2/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 8/20
Smells wonderful and looks absolutely brilliant - very easy drinking.......but didn’t do it for me. Tastes just like their Irish Red with a Pumpkin Pie (or maple syrup) finish.

3.6 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
Pours a sparkling deep copper with a thin, creamy, eggshell head that has good retention and leaves sparse lacing. Aroma is like a sweet pumpkin pie covered in caramel, a little heavy on the allspice, but at an acceptable level. Definitely inviting. Flavor is toast, heavy spice, some pumpkin, earthy leaves and dark caramel. Palate is light to medium bodied, slightly creamy entry, slightly chalky off dry finish. Really nice brew, the flavor didn’t really live up to the aroma for me though.

3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
Bottle. Pours a dark amber with reddish-brown tint. Small white head, slight lacing. Nose is spicy, cinnamon, nutmeg. Taste is surprisingly assertive, with stronger nutmeg, allspice, cinnamon, and substantial pumpkin. Soft carbonation, finishes smoothly with a slight spice kick. Shockingly solid offering from SA.
