A perennial favorite at our Brewery Halloween party, this reddish amber ale is perfect for fall. Real pumpkin adds a full body and sweetness, while deep roasted malts lend a toasty finish to this subtly spiced brew.

Not much pumpkin in the nose. Taste is fairly watered down in the pumpkin department, but a good mix of spices add a nice bitter kick to it. Goes down pretty well.

Dark clear amber pour, with a minimal off-white head. Interestingly this bottle was a gusher, first time I have seen a sam adams do that. Very sweet, caramel malts, pumpkin, pumpkin pie spice. Pretty watery. Certainly a pumpkin ale, but not a very good one.

Pours a dark and rather deep copper hue with a very nice full and fluffy creamy head. Nice sheets of lacing left behind that cling to the sides of the glass. The smell is pretty surprising with the amount of pumpkin and pumpkin spices that come through. There is almost a pumpkin pie-like quality in the nose with bread coming through. The flavor is actually pretty nice with loads of pumpkin, spices, bread, and a touch of nuts as well. The pumpkin is notably fake, but overall still very enjoyable.

355ml bottle. Red amber with lots of white head and lacing. Aroma is spices like cinnamon and nutmeg and a little malt sweetness. Taste is spicy and rich, but the spice overwhelms but of the pumpkin flavour. Its good, just not very pumpkiny. Palate was medium.

Clear copper. Little head. Spices come off slightly soapy in the nose. There’s just nothing here that stands out to make it good.

Bottle from pikapp327. Orange pour with a white head. Aroma is pumpkin and a ton of fresh bread. Taste is still bready and pumpkin but with lots more spice.

Wow...89th percentile? Well, there’s certainly plenty of pumpkin, nutmeg, cinnamon, but mostly cloves in the aroma. The flavor is better than the aroma up front. Definitely pumpkin-laden from the start to finish, just not my cup of tea. 4 oz. would be plenty.

Sample from bottle. Solid example of a pumpkin beer, with hints of cinnamon, nutmeg, and a nice pumpkin pie flavor overall. Not too overpowering or vegetably; just right. This should come in sixers rather than having to dig into the sampler pack!

2011 Batch with an expiration date of Feb 2012. What an attractive dark amber-pumpkin orange pour with a soft, silky lingering head and excited carbonation. The aroma is of moderate pumpkin, malts, and spices. The body is nice and full for the style. The clove and pepper are more evident in the taste than in the aroma and there’s a pleasing bitter bite at the end.
