A perennial favorite at our Brewery Halloween party, this reddish amber ale is perfect for fall. Real pumpkin adds a full body and sweetness, while deep roasted malts lend a toasty finish to this subtly spiced brew.

Poured from a 12 ounce bottle into a Spiegelau tulip. Best before February 2012 notched on label. Appearance: Pours a deep reddish-brown color with ruby highlights and a 1-2 finger frothy light tan head. Smell: Nutmeg and cinnamon are dominant here with a touch of malt in the background. Smells a lot like a pumpkin pie. Taste: Pumpkin pie flavor up front followed by sweet malt in the middle before ending with more spices, a light amount of hops and a touch of black pepper at the finish. Aftertaste is fairly dry with spices mixed in. Mouthfeel: Light-to-medium-bodied with a very high amount of prickly carbonation. Drinkability: Good drinkability. You could knock back a few of these on a cold fall evening. This being a hot August day in Southwest Florida, Im stopping at just one, but I wont hold that against the beer. Overall: Good beer overall. I could see myself reaching for this time after time during the fall if I lived in a colder climate. Definitely worth a shot.

This style has really run out of steam for me. That said this was a decent example. +++ Sampled from a 12 oz brown bottle this beer poured a very dark caramel-orange color with a large foamy orange-beige head that lingered and left some lacing. The aroma was spicy - nutmeg and cinnamon mostly - and had a bready undertone. The flavor was dryish with fairly prominent nutmeg, cinnamon and clove and faint notes of honey and bread. The finish was medium length dry spice. Medium body. Solid.

Bottle from variety pack. Pours a dark amber with tan head. Aroma of sweet, spicy malt with hints if pumpkin and cinnamon. Flavor is much the same with a light sweetness which is very enjoyablewith a subtle but obvious touch of nutmeg. Medium body with medium-high carbonation. Overall, very solid pumpkin brew!

Bottle from the fall 2011 sampler. The body was a nice garnet red hue with a dense, yet small light khaki head. The nose has lots of pumpkin and nutmeg. There is also some black tea. The taste has a bitter pumpkin flesh flavor followed by lots of nutmeg. The aftertaste is like pumpkin rind and leaves. This is for pumpkin lovers that like the spice bite at the back end. Decent, but the aftertaste throws me off, its close to iced tea mixed with a stale cigar. Harsh.

Tallahassee, Fl - Publix Supermarket - 12 oz bottle - part of their Harvest Variety pak. Bonus - bought the 12er for the rauch - thought I had rated this! Deep dark copper pour, thin, but long lasting khaki colored head - not much lacing. Very aromatic spicy aroma with hints of pumpkin spice and vanilla. Flavor has the same pumpkin spice theme to it with some underlying toffee and vanilla. Tends to turn a bit too sweet near the end of the bottle - but not to the point of cloying . Decently thick mouthfeel.

8/22/11. 12oz bottle. Clear amber pour with a small tan head that fades to a film fast and barely laces. Mild pumpkin spice aroma with a touch of that squashiness and definite caramel malts. Actually a decent pumpkin flavor with a subtle but spice presence. Im not gonna lie... I kinda like this one.

Pours dark brown with a white head. Aroma of cinnamon and nutmeg spices with a smooth malty finish. Not bad.
