3.4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 13/20
12oz bottle poured into my Elysian Night Owl Pumpkin ale glass. Pours a dark amber color with a light tan head that leaves thin lacing. Smells of roasted malt cinnamon, pumpkin, and allspice. tastes of all the same things with anice roasted flavor in the back end. Mouthfeel is thick and creamy with great carbonation. Overall not a bad pumpkin ale but there a plenty of better ones out there.

3.4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 15/20
October 2nd, 2012 - Samuel Adamsí beers have been a thick, syrupy lot, practically pouring out of the bottle with a viscosity that later develops into heavy, sweeping waves of sweet notes. In the same vein is the Sam Adams Harvest Pumpkin, which has a more diverse nose, including savory elements of roasted pumpkin and burnt, squash based mallard reactions. But as per tradition, the flavor is heavy with barbecue sauce, roast yams, dark honey and grilled peaches. True, itís a sweet beer with lots of residual sugars, but the deep caramel flavor with plenty of flavors of roast pumpkin and baked pumpkin seeds, and even a touch of smokiness like a light rauchbier, draw me in. This is definitely one of the better brews to come out of a Samuel Adams variety box.

This is like the light version of Fat Jack. Just tasted pretty much the same but more watered down and less intense. Not bad, but not as good.

Nice amber color with a creamy head. The smell is totally pumpkin and spices, and the taste is the same. An ok beer to try it once.

4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
Reviewed from notes.
The appearance had a dark brown/black colored body and left a one finger white foamy head that lasted less than twenty seconds. The body was too dark for any carbonation to be seen rising. Some nice light yet filmy/foamy lacing appeared but settled and slid down the sides of the glass.
The smell was superb as not just pumpkin, but allspice, ginger, clove, some slight molasses and cinnamon speckled themselves throughout the entire "pumpkin" aroma. Big wow (at least to me).
The taste had all of these typical flavorings and added a slight caramel flavoring, a bit of malt and some extra rich dark fruitiness to it.
The palate was about a medium with nothing harsh on the tongue. This wasnít exactly a very drinkable beer, could be close to a palate wrecker with all that was going on with it. It has a sweet dry finish.
Overall, though not very drinkable. I really liked this, probably would have been better if I saved this just a tad longer. This is a very good "pumpkin" ale.

3.1 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 11/20
Dark brown and slightly hazy in the glass. The beer starts smooth, slightly malty, a bit spicy. The mainpart is smooth, pumpkin-fruity with a malty body. The mainpart is smooth, malty, pumpkin-fruity, but a bit too subtle for me. The malty body is great, but in combination with the pumpkin a bit too strong. The aftertaste is malty, pumpkin and smooth.
Interesting combination, but for me the pumpkin is too subtle and I miss the typical pumpkin-spiciness. --> 10/12/10/10

2.9 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 10/20
Re-review, because I said so. 12 oz bottle into a pint glass.
A: Pours a beautiful clear copper color. The cream-shaded head is nice - but not as nice as the body - at a bit over one fingers high, but isnít the best retaining.
S: Well, itís a pumpkin ale, so of course itís loaded with cinnamon, nutmeg, and allspice. The spicing is heavy, but thankfully itís backed by a canvas of sweet caramel, toffee, and brown sugar.
T: Starts with some cinnamon and nutmeg flavors. This sort of descends into a generic finish laden with caramel and toffee. Only flashes of gourd character appear. There isnít much depth, or even much flavor for that matter.
M: Way, way, way too heavy on the palate given how mild it is. I say that a lot, and this is a prime example of that pratfall. Itís not even that creamy, either. With medium carbonation, it feels nice enough on the tongue but clashes hard with the flavors presented.
O: Itís okay I guess, but itís also boring and hard to drink - two qualities which NEVER go together. Put in the large pile of bland, not-very-good pumpkin ales while I stick with Schlafly Pumpkin Ale, kthx. At least itís better than I initially thought it to be (ícourse, I initially thought it to be horrid instead of just boring back then).
