4.5 AROMA 10/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 18/20
UPDATED: AUG 25, 2012 Pours dark brown with pretty much no head. Smells wonderfully of pumpkin spice and nutmeg. Nice flavor of pumpkin but with an unexpected finish of pure beer and malt. Greatness.

4.5 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 18/20
A gorgeous orange and tan color and delicious spices. While I did taste some pumpkin, it was mostly in the background. But those warm, delectable pumpkin pie spices were right up front. Cinnamon, nutmeg, clove, theyíre all there. It was still refreshing and crisp, too. And even though it is heavily spiced, it is fantastically well balanced.

Solid pumpkin ale. Very nice balance between malts, pumpkin, and spices. Probably the most well-balanced pumpkin beer Iíve had. Very drinkable too.

4.4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 18/20
Exclusive to the Havest Collection Variety pack for 2010. Deep golden/copper color with an almost reddish tinge and an initially foamy off-white head that rapidly dissipates to a fine lace. Caramel and spice float off the top followed by a malty (but not overly sweet) taste with excellent pumpkin pie spice that is perfectly balanced. The best part is the aftertaste and the "back" aroma that comes when you breathe out and get a secondary spice flavor and a true pumpkin vegetality. Medium bodied and very easy to drink. Unlike a lot of other pumpkin beers, this doesnít overdo the spices or underdo the pumpkin (which is often undetectable over the spices and sweetness). This is the best pumpkin ale Iíve had in a long time.

This is a beautiful amber color, with a medium-sized head. The taste and aroma are delicious - very reminiscent of pumpkin pie with notes of pumpkin, cinnamon, and some other spices. You can also detect some nuttiness. This is a great beer for fall or winter.

4.3 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 18/20
Aroma is caramel, orange, and ginger. Appearance is reddish/brown with good carbonation. Taste is low hops with medium malt, caramel, pumpkin, ginger, orange. All very subtle and not overpowering in abundance. Palate is sweet crystal malt aftertaste. Another excellent brew from the master brewers at sam adams.A++

4.3 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 18/20
Great beer. One of the few Pumpkin beers I have had that actually tastes better chilled. Reminds me of a good pumpkin bread, but not to heavy. Can pair well with lots of food because it doesnít linger.

4.3 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 17/20
Pours a very dark amber with a yellowish white head. The aroma has a sight hint of nutmeg and other spices, nothing too overpowering. The taste is a little sweet but not too sweet to be filling after one beer. It does not leave a lingering pumpkin taste, which is good. Overall a pretty decent beer for the season.

Right or wrong, I feel that Sam Adamas beers do not always get the attention they deserve. This is a fantastic pumpkin beer with perfect color, clarity and carrot. It is a fine"diamond" in the rough, if you will. Color is ruby red brown. Clarity is exceptional with no hue or cloudiness whatsoever, and carrot is the the type of flavor it resembles (a perfect sweet carrot cake flavor and aroma with a smooth pumpkin finish). Whatís not to like! Grab a case for Thanksgiving and enjoy.
