3.2 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 10/20
Dark brown in color, clear with a thin head. Nice sweet malt aroma with a very very light hint of nut to it. This is a tasty brew and i can see it be a tad higher in nut flavor.

2 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 3/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 5/20
Dark copper color, medium head and fair lacing. Hazelnut nose and flavor. Dry, a little roasty and heavily astringent, weird bitterness. Generally unpleasant tasting.

Bottle. Pours a light brown color with a small tan head. Sweet caramel and hazelnut aroma. Great malty taste a pleasant hazelnut finish. Hints of cocoa and nutmeg are also there. Watery texture with average carbonation. This brew really exceeded my expectations...one of my favorite S.A offerings.

Sam Hazel Brown pours a rich red brown with a head of white bubbles that dissapates rapidly. Nose is a sweet rich nutty caramel blend of deliciousness. Body is lightly fizzy. Taste is nutty and not at all sweet. Very good beer that is not too dry and not as syrupy sweet as the nose. Finishes cleanly with just a hint of nuttiness.

Nice aroma of sweet hazelnuts and roasted malts. Taste isn’t quite as nice as the nose. Mouthfeel is creamy. Hops on the finish.

3.4 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
Part of their 12-pack Harvest Collection for 2012. Pours a clean copper colour with an off-white fizzy head that has better retention than I expected (from all the fizziness - like pop). Not much lace. Typical nut brown ale scent at first, but then, the hazelnut aromas come out a little. Nice mix of caramel and roasted malts, all well-blended with the hop for flavours. Oh wow... loads of hazelnut in the finish. Was not expecting this, as most brown ales with the word "nut" in them, do not really taste like nuts, but more like hints of them. This one is really hazel-nutty. Not usually a fan of nut brown ales, but because of this, I am a fan of this one. Yes, I am a sucker for flavoured beers.

Pours mahogany into a Sam glass. Tan head with excellent retention recedes leaving scant spiders. Sweet hazelnut aromas. Sweet hazelnut and caramel upfront turning dry in the lasting toast, roasted nut and earthy hop finish.

3.6 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
12oz Bottle. The pour was a clear medium brown with an average (1-2 finger) light brown creamy head that reduced down to a medium film and large collar with fair runny lacing.
The aroma was most definitely loaded with Hazelnut and also had a toasted caramel malt and a sweet earthy yeast with notes of caramel, toffee and a slight coffee roastiness.
The taste was malty, nutty and lightly sweet with a hint of caramel early on, with the finish possessing a mild toffee presence and a roasty coffee ending. The flavor lasted an average time after the swallow with the roasty sweet nutty taste fading ever so slowly into the back ground.
Mouthfeel was a step or two below medium in body and quite creamy in texture with a good solid medium carbonation.
Overall a fantastic, unique tasting Brown Ale that had all the flavors blending so well that it made this drinking experience simply wonderful. Only thing I wish is that they sold it in six packs year round...
