This flavorful dark brown ale has a distinct hazelnut aroma and taste. Slightly sweet caramel and toffee malt notes accentuate the pleasant roasted hazelnut character. This medium-bodied brew finishes smooth with an underlying spiciness from the hops.

UPDATED: NOV 29, 2012 Was really looking forward to this one as I remember Longshot from the late 90s being one of the best beers I have ever enjoyed..... Expectations were high so this was a letdown. As a brown ale its better than Newcastle almost tastes like a basic dark beer. Best thing about it was the smell hazelnuts of course. Some cocoa Thin taste though Sweet at first but got very thin bot much going for it. That said between this or Bud I would take a 6 pack as a brown ale its good I just was expecting Hazelnut Longshot part 2 and was let down. Just another dark beer and thats ok. Even the Octoberfest I tasted last night was kind of watery and bland strange. Second one a cuople months later was a bit better perhaps a couple months in the bottle helped it or I was ready for it again a pretty good beer just not as good as I remember the Longshot can’t imagine this is the same beer.

Serving: 12 oz. bottle from Wegmans Leesburg. It pours an amber brown color with a thick, light tan head. The nose is very nutty with lots of hazelnuts. The flavor follows suit with notes of bread and light caramel. Medium to full bodied with a dry but lasting finish. Decent brew.

Nutty, sweet medium bodied brown ale with sweet caramel toffee notes. Very easy drinking, flavorful ale that can be enjoyed on any occasion. Sam Adams Harvest Seasonal pack, never too early for Fall brews.

Bottle from variety pack. Pours clear, dark, almost cola brown with a frothy, resilient, eggshell colored head. Aroma of hazelnut, toast, and hay. The taste is semi-sweet dominated by hazelnut, but also has a decent hop presence. Light-medium bodied and kind of fizzy. Overall a bit thin nearly across the board, and the flavor combination is little bit of a mess, but it’s still decent and very drinkable brown.

12 oz bottle from a variety pack. Pours light brown with a long lasting off-white head. Aroma is very nutty, malty with hints of hops. Body is light to medium, slightly crisp. Taste is mostly hazelnuts, toffee balanced by earthy hops. Finish is medium, hazelnutty. Good brew if you like hazelnuts.

Pour out of 12 oz bottle, thanks Jay! Dark reddish brown pour, aroma brought big vanilla, hazelnuts, some slight roast, caramel and biscuity malts, hints of earth and spice. Taste is a nice mix of caramel, vanilla, big, big sweet hazelnuts, some earth and spice, touch of bread, finishing fairly sweet. Interesting, lots of hazelnut.

Pours a dark amber with an off white head. Aroma is roasty, nutty, coffee. Flavor is sweet, toast, nutty, and a bit of chocolate. Flavorful, interesting, and easy to drink. This would make a nice regular.

A crimson-brown pour with a frothy, light tan head. The malty aroma has a lot of hazelnut along with some bread and toffee. It has a medium body with a slightly sticky texture and average carbonation. The taste is sweet, but not too sweet, and finishes mildly dry.

12 oz bottle from a sampler pack from Safeway Salinas. Nose is tons of roast, coffee, and a bit of nuts and smoke. Clear brown with a medium beige head. Flavor is caramel, hints of bitter and buttered toffee, and roasted hazelnuts. Pretty good brown.
