COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
This flavorful dark brown ale has a distinct hazelnut aroma and taste. Slightly sweet caramel and toffee malt notes accentuate the pleasant roasted hazelnut character. This medium-bodied brew finishes smooth with an underlying spiciness from the hops.

Medium brown pour with a very light brown head. Loads of hazelnuts, sweet grain, caramel malts. Not vey complex but it delivers what it promises.

Save the hazelnut flavoring for the coffee. It's way too overpowering here. One of the worst Sam Adams I've tried...up there with the Cherry Wheat ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

I have been drinking this one from samplers for a few years so not sure how I keep missing to add my rating of it. Anyways.... Light brown to dark amber brew with a very strong smell of roasted nuts. The aroma makes it seem like it is going to be something great and at first sip it is. It is very strong on the hazelnut flavor with a thick wonderful feel over the tongue but that is where the great part ends. The afterwards is very dry and bitter making me want a different beer to wash it down. Canít say I hate it because I do drink them every year in the sampler 12 pack, so it is good but with a flaw.

Malty, semisweet aroma, hints of caramel. Pours clear ruby/copper with a thin tan head. Nice balance of sweet and sour flavors, ends with caramel/toffee sweetness.

The aroma is pure hazelnut, some cocoa powder. The appearance is clear ruby/brown,off white head. The flavor is hazelnut, toasted malt, cocoa. The finish is nutty, cocoa, light roast. Medium in body. Not bad, a straight up representation of the style, not as good as some other examples.

Bottle. Poured a mild brown with off white head. Aroma was clearly hazel nut with roast malt as well. Taste had a combo of hazelnut and toffe, malt as well. They nailed the taste, but if you donít enjoy hazelnut, might not be your cup of "tea". A bit thin, but relatively smooth finish.

Bottle @ home. Light brown pour with a finger of khaki head. Nice nutty, sweet nose. Hazelnut, light vanilla, toast, and a touch of chocolate. Caramel sweetness. Flavor is quite sweet. Hazelnut, vanilla, and caramel. A touch of fruit, some chocolate, and toast.

12 oz bottle into a New Belgium goblet. A: Pours a clear chestnut color with surprising carbonation. The head is typical of the style - about one finger high, creamy, and off-white in shading. Retention isnít great, though there is some lacing on the glass. S: Hazelnuts are pretty much the primary note here, perhaps as expected. It isnít quite coffee-esque, but itís close. Caramel, toffee, and a touch of chocolate back up the primarily nutty aroma. Not quite as sweet as other hazelnut browns, and thatís a good thing. T: At first, thereís a touch of toffee flavor from the malts - and then a strong hazelnut quality takes over. Caramel returns in the dry finish. Not as íchemicalí tasting as I expected. M: I like how (relatively) dry this is, because it helps cut down the sweetness. Itís not so dry as to kill the aftertaste, either. On the other hand, itís rather thin and over-carbonated in feel. O: I donít think Iíll ever really love a hazelnut beer. This one, though, is decent. Itís mild and simplistic, but also easy to drink and not annoyingly artificial. I think this one is just right being only 2 beers in a fall 12 pack.
