3.8 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
DATE TASTED: October 11, 2013 ... GLASSWARE: Kisatskyís Tavern pint... OCCASION: drinking--enough said...APPEARANCE: dark brown body supports a dreamy white lacing; effervescence slows to a small stream of bubbles... AROMA: oaky, nutty fragrances merge with subtle, sugary/caramel hints to give the brew an intriguingly welcome wrinkle to the usually blander genre; a bit astringent at times...PALATE: medium-bodied, reasonably creamy and suitable for a crisp fall evening such as this...TASTE: toffee, sweet caramel and vanilla swirl to a palatable balance; moves beyond the average brown...OVERALL: a surprise in a mix pack of seasonals; I found this to be a beer Iíd revisit when hosting Thanksgiving this year--and I believe the guests would appreciate it as well...

Nice brown ale with nice caramel, hazelnut taste. I have only seen it the winter sample packs which is a shame since I would buy this beer on its own.

Tap. Pours a clear light chestnut brown body under a small wispy off white head. The nose is really sweet and loaded with hazelnut, smells a bit artificial. The flavor is just as sweet as expected, tastes like hazelnut coffee with a light nuttiness and some caramel on the finish. A little too artificial and sweet with not enough body to back up the flavoring. Light bodied with soft fizzy carbonation and a too long lingering hazelnut finish. Iíll take a pass on this one if a second go around comes.

12 oz bottle from winter sampler pack. Poured a thin brown into the pint glass, overwhelming aroma of roasted hazelnuts. You better like that taste if your going to try this one. Nice caramel malt smoothness combines with the richness of the hazelnut and makes an enjoyable beer but not a session ale, the flavor becomes cloying and too sweet for having more than one or two.

Modest starting head. Shrinks to ring lace. Clear, brown color.
Smells like burnt molasses with hazelnuts. Lots of toast.
Sweeter taste with a strong deep roast of hazelnuts. A bit sweet. Thin bodied and high in the carbonation. Short aftertaste. Relatively non-descript.

this beer pours a brown color with a nice thick tan head that leaves lots of lacing. the aroma was hazelnut, nuttiness, coffee, caramel, chocolate. there is so much sweetness in the aroma. the flavor is identical to the aroma. this beer is very good in my opinion and i highly recommend it,

Wow, I am a big fan of hazelnut. I love hazelnut coffee, candles, etc. So when i tried this beer I was immediately in love. Iíve had hazelnut beers by other well rated breweries, but this is my favorite.

Rich brown in color, smooth and full of flavor, pours nice with a short but thick head. Overall a good brew.

3.9 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
Rich deep brown coloured body with a thick, three centimetre tall tan head and a nice copper glow at the bottom. Aroma of coffee, nuts, earth, malt, pistachios, hazelnuts and a lot of nutty depth - very nice. Medium-bodied; Slight coffee flavours up front with a rather large bitterness, but the caramel and earthy malts follow behind with a super strong hazelnut flavour that persists. Aftertaste shows quite the depth with the malt and nuts really coming through, a little bit of sugar and some minor bitterness at the end. Overall, a great nut brown with an amazing hazelnut flavour throughout. I sampled this twelve ounce bottle pulled from a sampler case, purchased from Costco in Arlington (Pentagon City) on 20-October-2013 for US$25.99/24 pack, sampled at home a few steps away from Costco on 15-December-2013.

From the 12 fl. oz. bottle with an April expiration date (no year associated with that month). Handsome looking medium mahogany pour with a lingering off-white head. The aroma is malty and full of toffee and hazelnuts as promised. Spicy and toasty to say the least. Inviting. The body is medium to full. The taste has a subtle bitterness but a downplayed hop character. Itís all about the hazelnuts, which was nice.

Poured from 12oz bottle. Flavors of hazelnut are overpowering here. Really not much else comes through.
