COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
This flavorful dark brown ale has a distinct hazelnut aroma and taste. Slightly sweet caramel and toffee malt notes accentuate the pleasant roasted hazelnut character. This medium-bodied brew finishes smooth with an underlying spiciness from the hops.

Poured from bottle. Aroma of coffee and brown sugar. Great lookin mahogany with lacing tan head. Coffee, toffee, hazelnut flavors with caramel, butter and brown sugar as well. My only gripe is that it has a bit watery feel. Otherwise, great stuff.

Pours a nice dark brown with tan head. Nice lacing. Smells of sweet brown sugar. Tastes nutty and has hints of caramel. Very nice beer.

12 oz bottle dated best before Feb. (2013) and served in a Unibroue snifter. Pours a clear ruby-brown, with a weak beige head that leaves a moderate amount of lacing. Plenty of hazelnut in the nose, along with caramel, toffee, and a touch of hops. [8.5] The taste {8.5] still has hazelnut in the forefront, but with a nice roasted nut aspect. Enough hops to add some spiciness, but not enough to fully tame the sweetness. Light-medium body; moderate carbonation. A bit too thin. Overall: a surprisingly good hazelnut brown. Bettered by the world-class Rogue Hazelnut but closer in overall quality than I expected, even from this highly reliable brewery.

Appearance: Pours with a filtered, brown look. Has a pretty nice creamy head that stays around awhile. Nice. Smell: Simply, all that hazelnut is right up from with some other malty aromas as well. Taste/Feel: Follows the nose, unsurprisingly, but with a bit of caramel in there. This is just a tasty beer. It doesnít have as much flavor as Iíd like, but itís still appealing. The beer is medium bodied, with medium carbonation as well. A little less carbonation, and Iíd like a it a little bit more. Still very refreshing. This is a good beer that could be a VERY good beer. If every sip tasted like the first one, this would be a standout Sam Adams beer. Instead, itís just a slightly above average offering. A great addition to the Harvest Collection!

Appearance: Pours a translucent, amber-brown body with a reasonable-sized, ivory-hued head.

Smell: Well, hazelnuts, to be precise, with the brown ale backing notes smelling of roast, toasted breadcrusts, and caramel (even a bit of cocoa). Very soft fruitiness. Light tea-like notes delivered by the hops.

Taste: The aforementioned toast, roast, and sweetish caramel (oh, and the cocoa powder) maltiness dialed back just a bit by a bite from the spicy, herb notes imparted by the noble hopping. And, of course, thereís the hazelnut flavoring. Standard SA house yeastiness. Semi-dry, nutty, malty finish.

Mouthfeel: On the light side of medium-bodied. Medium carbonation. Not too thick, not too thin, with just the right about of suds.

Overall: A tasty brew. Why, itís like a Hazelnut Nectar with the nigh unmistakable SA house yeast character.

Delicious. Pours clear brown with a frothy off white cap. Aroma is nuts and chocolate with a spicyness. Flavor is deep chocolate malt, nuts, and a almost Belgian-style spice. Oily in the mouth and a little thicker than most browns. Very good beer indeed.

A truly unique and refreshing beer. The hazelnut flavor isnít tame, and itís surprisingly natural. Itís not too sweet, and itís not too bitter - just a really great fall beer.

Hazelnut, chocolate and toffee aromas. Tastes not overly sweet nice balance. My only complaint is it is a little thin bodied. Very good otherwise.
