Commercial Description:
Samuel Adams Hefeweizen has a traditional spin on a classic American craft brewing style. This crisp, fruity wheat ale is cloudy, because the yeast has not been filtered out. Bavarian Spalt hops give the ale a crisp elegance, that is not bitter and leaves a clean aftertaste. Cheers!

Samuel Adams Hefeweizen 12 oz bottle Moderate pour in a weizen glass. Best before 07/07, enjoyed 07/07 Poured a clear gold with a moderate fizzy somewhat lasting white head. Smelt of moderate sweet bread, banana and spices. Taste was upfront light to moderate bitter sweet spiced bread followed by a moderate bitter yeast and light green hops on an average finish. Palate was light to medium bodied, slightly creamy on a dry finish, and lively carbonated. Overall, this isn’t much of a hefeweizen. The classic Sam Adams yeast taste is present, and the flavors are nice, but nothing classic. Just a well done average hefe.

12oz bottle from Publix Supermarket. Pours a just slightly hazy dark golden color with a one finger white head that diminishes quickly but still laces the glass. Aroma is wet grass, slightly sweet malt, and honey but all very faint. Flavors are about the same: generally grain and wheat notes with some light honey sweetness. Not much else to it. Light body with a quick finish.

Fair enough Amerian wheat but it could be more of so many things...could be yeastier, could be citrusy-er or fruitier, could be tangier...but it’s a nice enough thirst quencher. I like to see it in the mix packs but never buy a six of it or anyhting

Bottle. This is simply a desecration to all German hefeweizens. In every way this is a subdued hefeweizen. Aroma is weak, appearance is sub-par, flavor is muted, only the palate is decent. Very easy to drink but I’m glad ratebeer doesn’t call this a hefeweizen.

Drinkable, but unremarkable. Typical Hefeweizen flavors are present - fruit, cloves, slight cereal malt note - but not enough.

Pours a cloudy yellow with a thin, but lasting, white head. Aroma is light, with notes of wheat and citrus. Flavor is equally light, with perhaps a little stronger citrus flavor. Drinkable, but nothing to write home about.
