tagz (308), USA Oct 2, 2007 bottle. pours pale orange, slight haze, no sediment. cakey head fell quickly. not much in aroma, slightly musty. tastes of pear, hay, light bitter. carbonation is high and overwhelming. it has elements of the style, but obviously not enough to deserve the hefe classification. decent for a session, but overall a bland wheat.
junon (136), Honolulu, Hawaii, USA Sep 3, 2008 This is a Hefeweizen? Clearest wheat Ive ever seen. Doesnt smell, look, or even taste like a Hefeweizen. I dont understand this beer. DTM (373), Winters, California, USA Aug 31, 2008 Bottle from the 76 Station in Davis, CA. Pours a cloudy yelllow. Sweet citrus flavor, maybe even a touch of honey. Not bad and one of my favorite beers from Sam Adams. REDBOSOX (42), Vineyard Haven, Massachusetts, USA Aug 31, 2008 If it didn’t call itself a hefeweisen, I would probably rate it higher. Unfortunately (for the beer anyway), I’ve had MANY authentic hefeweisens. This one just doesn’t measure up. It’s a decent aroma that cloudy and golden like a good hefeweisen should be. Sadly, the flavor and finish are just average. I’d call it a poor man’s hefeweisen. Good thing this site calls it a wheat ale instead. That’s exactly what it tastes like to me. It tastes fine. It’s just not what I expected it to be. Funknmilla (525), Absecon, New Jersey, USA Aug 31, 2008 12 oz bottle...cloudy golden body with an off-white head that diminishes and stays down like an ashamed puppy...wheat, yeast light clove and an orange/lemon zest on the nose....light clove initially on the palate, some orange-----refreshing but a very typical american hefe...the yeast, the clove, yadda yadda ya...its ok...a little malts on a deep aroma sniff smaynard6000 (51), New Castle, Pennsylvania, USA Aug 26, 2008 Aroma is not very strong... hints of malt. Cloudy golden color with a thin white head. Flavor is grainy with a touch of sweetness. Thin body with very little to the finish. I prefer Troegs Dreamweaver to this if I’m looking for a yeasty beer.
