Commercial Description:
Samuel Adams Hefeweizen has a traditional spin on a classic American craft brewing style. This crisp, fruity wheat ale is cloudy, because the yeast has not been filtered out. Bavarian Spalt hops give the ale a crisp elegance, that is not bitter and leaves a clean aftertaste. Cheers!

from notes: hazy yellow body with white head. Aroma has maltiness and some light notes of hops. Flavour is same. Somehow the wheat part is missing. Good to drink, but bad for a hefe.

Aroma hints at malt, but missing the mark of a hefe. Classic cloudy hefe. Flavor very bland, missing any hint of hefe expectations. Smooth and drinkable, but that is about the best thing I can say about this very bland beer from the usually dead on Boston Beer Company.

Poured from bottle into Summit Pint Glass. Hazy gold with 1/2 inch head that lasts with slight lacing. Mainly just a wheat smell, maybe very slight citrus. Once again, mainly just wheat with some citrus. Crisp and refreshing. Medium body and medium carbonation. Once again, it is very refreshing. However, it is just a standard straightforward wheat ale. Easy to drink and could easily have another, but would rather move on to something else. Why is this called a Hefeweizen? I know it is supposed to be an American Hefeweizen, but that isn’t a real style, and I would think Sam Adams would not feed into misrepresenting the Hefeweizen name.

Pours a hazy golden orange with citrus aroma. Nothing special with this hef. A decent beer that is middle of the road for hefeweizens.

Hazy orange blonde pour into thin off white foamy head that quickly dissipates into melting lacing as carbonated bubbles rise from the bottom of the glass into a pool of foam. Aroma of sweet malt, lightly toasted wheatbread, citrus and piney hops. Initial flavor of toasted wheatbread and sweet citrus that slowly fadied to a lingering buttery hoppy finish.

12 oz bottle. Pours a somewhat cloudy glowing orange with a medium size creamy white head. Aroma is fruity and citric with some wheat and just a little bit of hop spiciness though it is pretty reserved. Flavor starts with some citrus and wheat and grain notes, and doesnt get much more. Stays sweet and sugary through the finish with just a tiny bitterness that lingers. Light to medium body and a sharp carbonation. Not a good hefe, too citrusy and sugary.

Cloudy golden color. Aroma is mainly of malts and wheat. Taste is mainly of wheat. This has a smooth aftertaste. Nothing overly impressive here, I just figured that I’d have one of these before it’s officially replaced by their crystal wheat.

12 oz bottle. Never thought I’d taste skunk in a Sam Adams product, but here it is, just faintly. Wheat and citrus overtones in the flavor. Malty, wheaty aroma. All in all, one of the worst, if not *the* worst Hefes I’ve ever had. It’s not bad, it’s very drinkable, just not all that great for the style.
