3.2 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 11/20
This porter had an aroma that initially reminded me of bubble gum. The taste was similar to a sweet chocolate stout. The beer is a dense viscous blend of porter and old Fezziwig. I enjoyed the deep thickness of the beer, but I would have liked to have seen a beer with a little more complexity. The presence of the hop flavor would have given this beer a little more character.

Pour is crisp black with a huge brown head...smell is mostly chocolate and coffee...taste is much the same with the chocolate taking a background to the coffee...some unknown spice in there too...little thin and watery...

3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
Very dark brown, tan head. Aroma is sweet - prunes and molasses. This one is pretty sweet, but the sweetness is balanced with a smooth bitterness in the finish. Strong coffee flavor. Could use a bit more body. I wish they would offer this outside the Holiday pack ( Old Fezziwig too, for that matter)...

3.4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
Strong bitter taste. Aroma reminds me of a can of unsweetened cocoa and so does the taste. Low carbonation.

3.1 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
Dark brown pour, with almost no head. Chocolate, sweet aroma. Malty, bitterness, and light chocolate. A slight disappointment.

pours with a creamy head; caramel, dough, and coffee in the nose; thin palate, good balance; some earthy hoppiiness; OK, at best

3.3 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
This beer poors a nice tan head on a dark brown to black body. Head is reapidly diminishing however and is a falult in the brew. Aroma is chocolate and roasty. Flavor is typical for a porter, sl sweet with a decent bitter finish. Not bad just not special.

3.1 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
From the Sam Adams winter sampler: Pours almost pitch black with an initial tan head. Not a whole lot of lacing. First taste is burnt toast but it mellows quickly to a nice coffee-ish flavor. Medium bodied. Not bad.

2.5 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 9/20
This porter poured very near black in color with a fluffy yellowish-cream head.
The nose was hoppy and midly fruity. The mouthfeel was oily. The flavor was pretty dense and harsh. It went beyond roasted, past toasted, straight to burnt. Burnt toast would be a pretty fair estimate of the lingering finish in my throat.

4.2 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 16/20
Very dark brown with a small tan head. Aroma of caramel and chocolate malt. Flavor of roast and chocolate. Finish of bitter coffee and hops. Thanks Dogbrick.
