Not a bad porter at all. Not in the league with Anchor, mind you, but good. Pours an opaque dark brown bordering on black with a medium tan head. Malty aroma, tastes of chocolate and a hint of fruit. Not unlike Sierra Nevada Porter, but not quite as rich as I wouldíve liked. Still, a good beer.

Conditioning was a little overcarbonated for my taste, but the appearance was wonderful and the flavor was average. Nice chocately up front but fades fast.

Rather thin and watery for a porter. Nice dark color with a decent head. Some raisins and chocolate malt flavors but rather unassuming overall. I prefer their winter lager.

Very dard reddish-brown with a nice tan head. Aroma is chocolate and roasted malt. Medium body. Taste starts sweet chocolate and is followed by the roasted flavors. Iím not tasting and hops in the finish. Not bad, but I agree with Imgraz1 that the Fezziwig is better.

Dark brown color. Small to medium head. Aroma is chocolate, roasted malts and slightly sweet. Light to medium bodied porter. Malts are chocolate and coffee. Hops are slightly bitter. Roasted malts. A little on the thin side for a porter, but not too bad. Another in the line of Sam Adams Holiday Beers. Mouthfeel is full and round. Finish is smooth and a little dry. Aftertaste is slightly bitter

Bottle. Pours a dark brown with thick tan head that dissipates quickly. Smells of bourbon and nuts. Very malty and coffee-tasting. Quite burnt too! Iíve had much better porters. Uggghhh, way too burnt tasting!

Bottle from Holiday Sampler Box: Pours to a nice brown hue topped by a small ceany tan head and above average lacing. The aroma has notes of dusty yeast esters, walnut, apple, pear, vanilla, mocha and mild floral hops. The taste starts with a twangy and bittersweet nature with lots of coffee, mocha, and nutty overtones. The finish displays a burnt/smoky and touch of pine punch. The feel is just okay, slightly chalky. I surprised that this is quite quaffable. While not great, itís one of Sam Adams better offerings of late. Still I would much rather have the Winter Lagers in the sampler box anyday.

Deep ark reddish amber w/no head. Chocolate, toast(burnt), tootsie roll and vanilla nose. Med weight w/sour drying finish. Blah, weak flavor, some burnt notes...HO...Hum...boring!
