3.3 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 12/20
Pours a dark brown color with a light tan head that leaves decent lacing. Smells of roasted malt, chocolate, toffee and caramel. Tastes of all the same things in the smell. Mouthfeel is thick and chewy with good carbonation. Not a bad porter but pretty average for a British style porter.

From bottle. Pours dark brown with little head. Aroma was dark roated malt and coffee. Taste follows with a decent balance in chocolate and coffee males. Crisp finish that is not too heavy.

3.8 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
Appearance: I got lazy and drank from the bottle. Will edit this when I have it next time when it’s poured.
Smell: Musky, malt aromas.
Taste/feel: Much like the smell. It has a musky smell and taste, but for some reason, it’s enjoyable. It makes this porter fairly unique, and it just feels Christmas-like. The malts that are in there with the subtle bits of chocolate and roastiness. This doesn’t have a really thick feel to it like some other porters do, and I really like that about this beer.
The rating on this site is appropriate, but I feel like many people that don’t come to this site would overlook this beer. It’s above average, and a very good porter. Looking forward to bottle number 2 in my variety pack.

2.6 AROMA 3/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 10/20
I really had to get my nose into the glass to get any sort of aroma, and it was a light coffee/chocolate. There was a thin, brownish head, and nice clear porter. You can certainly tell it’s a Sam Adams product by the taste of the beer, which I like.
