Bottle poured clear brown hue w/ a frothy tan head w/ good retention yet no lacing. Mild aroma of roasted malts. Initial flavor is a moderate sweet with a light bitter finish. Tastes are chocolate, roasted coffee, bread and vanilla. Medium bodied, lively carbonation, creamy mouthfeel and a lasting roast in the finish.

Pours a dark brown color with a light tan head that leaves decent lacing. Smells of roasted malt, chocolate, toffee and caramel. Tastes of all the same things in the smell. Mouthfeel is thick and chewy with good carbonation. Not a bad porter but pretty average for a British style porter.

From bottle. Pours dark brown with little head. Aroma was dark roated malt and coffee. Taste follows with a decent balance in chocolate and coffee males. Crisp finish that is not too heavy.

Appearance: I got lazy and drank from the bottle. Will edit this when I have it next time when it’s poured. Smell: Musky, malt aromas. Taste/feel: Much like the smell. It has a musky smell and taste, but for some reason, it’s enjoyable. It makes this porter fairly unique, and it just feels Christmas-like. The malts that are in there with the subtle bits of chocolate and roastiness. This doesn’t have a really thick feel to it like some other porters do, and I really like that about this beer. The rating on this site is appropriate, but I feel like many people that don’t come to this site would overlook this beer. It’s above average, and a very good porter. Looking forward to bottle number 2 in my variety pack.

I really had to get my nose into the glass to get any sort of aroma, and it was a light coffee/chocolate. There was a thin, brownish head, and nice clear porter. You can certainly tell it’s a Sam Adams product by the taste of the beer, which I like.

pours a thick black with a thin beige head (some light lacings on the glass). aromas of caramel, wheat and bubble gum. medium mouth-feel. some milk chocolate, roasted toffee, light molasses with subtle nuts and possible hint of woodsy spice. finish is quite strong with old molasses and fermented fruit peel and licorice. overall, very solid porter.
