Samuel Adams Holiday Porter is a full-flavored porter inspired by the famous drink of Londonís Victorian era luggage porters. Brewed with generous portions of Caramel, Munich and Chocolate malt, this hearty porter finishes with traditional English Fuggles and East Kent Goldings. Cheers!

Pours a dark brown color with a light tan head that leaves decent lacing. Smells of roasted malt, chocolate, toffee and caramel. Tastes of all the same things in the smell. Mouthfeel is thick and chewy with good carbonation. Not a bad porter but pretty average for a British style porter.

From bottle. Pours dark brown with little head. Aroma was dark roated malt and coffee. Taste follows with a decent balance in chocolate and coffee males. Crisp finish that is not too heavy.

Roast notes and chocolate with mild toffee notes. Black with a light tan head. Balanced with roast bitterness and sweet malty flavors. Medium full bodied with a balanced finish.

Appearance: I got lazy and drank from the bottle. Will edit this when I have it next time when itís poured. Smell: Musky, malt aromas. Taste/feel: Much like the smell. It has a musky smell and taste, but for some reason, itís enjoyable. It makes this porter fairly unique, and it just feels Christmas-like. The malts that are in there with the subtle bits of chocolate and roastiness. This doesnít have a really thick feel to it like some other porters do, and I really like that about this beer. The rating on this site is appropriate, but I feel like many people that donít come to this site would overlook this beer. Itís above average, and a very good porter. Looking forward to bottle number 2 in my variety pack.

I really had to get my nose into the glass to get any sort of aroma, and it was a light coffee/chocolate. There was a thin, brownish head, and nice clear porter. You can certainly tell itís a Sam Adams product by the taste of the beer, which I like.

Bottle from Winter Classics variety pack. Pours a dark coffee colour with a thick 1 finger dark khaki head. Aromas of chocolate, toffee, coffee bean. Mouthfeel: creamy malt, bittersweet chocolate, tart finish. A nicely balanced porter, nothing outstanding but easy drinking nonetheless.

12 oz bottle served in snifter. Pours clear and coffee-colored with a dense tan head that rises to the top of a pint glass but not over ... near perfect. Head has very good retention. Very good aroma but too subdued. Medium-full and near creamy body with moderate carbonation. T - This "holiday" porter does NOT feature pronounced "holiday" spicing like cinnamon and nutmeg. It does feature a smooth, roasted malt taste as part of its rich complex flavor. Hops are also readily detectable. More subtle flavor notes of chocolate, coffee, spices, and vanilla. Nice balance of sweet and bitter. Particularly nice finish for a porter. Should be a great accompaniment to a rich holiday meal.
