3.3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20 TomTron (299) - Aiken, South Carolina, USA - NOV 11, 2012Pours a pitch black with a frothy, off-white head. Aromas of burnt malts and coffee. Taste has a large amount of roasted malts along with a coffee bitterness that swarms the mouth. Finish is unexpectedly mostly bitter with a dry finish. Not the best porter, but nothing offensive.

12 oz bottle. Pours a clear deep red brown with a tan head. Caramelized brown sugar and toffee in the aroma. Flavors of roasty caramel, toffee, brown sugar, at times a bit of marshmallow. A little different from the typical porter flavors, but definitely on the watery side.

3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20 jason1970 (143) - Illinois, USA - APR 27, 2013
Not a bad porter, but unremarkable when it comes to all the great ones available. The malt profile isn’t really complex enough and that affects the flavor. I like a porter that errs on the side of being more on the coffee/chocolate side of the spectrum. This doesn’t get there. Good, but not great.

Pours a dark brown color with a light tan head that leaves decent lacing. Smells of roasted malt, chocolate, toffee and caramel. Tastes of all the same things in the smell. Mouthfeel is thick and chewy with good carbonation. Not a bad porter but pretty average for a British style porter.

From bottle. Pours dark brown with little head. Aroma was dark roated malt and coffee. Taste follows with a decent balance in chocolate and coffee males. Crisp finish that is not too heavy.
