Samuel Adams Holiday Porter is a full-flavored porter inspired by the famous drink of London’s Victorian era luggage porters. Brewed with generous portions of Caramel, Munich and Chocolate malt, this hearty porter finishes with traditional English Fuggles and East Kent Goldings. Cheers!

deep, brown color with a dark tan head, the aroma of choclate, nuts, and cream. a velvet texture on the tongue and a bitter after taste, smooth though. pretty good. not the best holiday special in the sampler.

UPDATED: MAR 21, 2006 12 oz bottle. Pours with thin light tan fairly quickly disappearing head and very dark amber almost black color. Aroma of dark malts, chocolate and some coffee with a little toffee thrown in. Nice body with dark chocolate and coffee overtones with a slightly subdued hop bitterness. Finishes fairly clean with some roast malt, coffee and hop flavor lingering. Wish this one were a regular offering.

Alright beer. It has a strong caramel after taste. Does not say anything about coffee on the bottle but reminds me of BLACK coffee.

12 oz. bottle. Pours a very dark amber (almost black), with a thin, tan head. Full-bodied, creamy, with light carbonation. Tastes of burnt malt and unsweetened chocolate. Finish is long with just the right amount of bitterness. An all-around tasty brew.

If all porters are this light im gonna have to start drinking more. Great for an inexperienced rater like me. Roasted and toasted and so smooth. Nothing overpowering. Great for pre or post meal on a cold day.

Beautiful beer. Dark semi translucent red/black color. thin diminishing head. Smell is malty sweet with hints of chocolate. Taste is sweet toffee chocolate mix, with a creamy mouth feel. Finish with slight hop taste, but not very much. I loved this beer.

12 oz bottle from the Winter Classics pack. Lovely chocolate and caramel aroma with a slight hop bite. Pours a deep ruby, almost black, with a thick, lasting tan head. Nice lacing. Flavor is primarily chocolate and caramel malt. Full body with creamy texture and just enough carbonation. Lingering English hop finish. This is a lovely porter. Highly recommended.

A very dark poor. Nearly black with a slight tint of red and a nice brown head. A chocolate and darkly fruity smell. There is a roasted taste to the drink and a smooth feel of the liquid, something like a buttery pudding. Very drinkable for one but a bit rich for additional glasses.

Dark brown pour, with almost no head. Chocolate, sweet aroma. Malty, bitterness, and light chocolate. A slight disappointment.

Poured with huge rocky brown head that was mostly lasting with nice lacing. Body is a very dark cola color that I can’t see through. Nose is of cinnamon, vanilla, malt, and brown sugar. Initial flavor is coffee and caramel taste. Finish is dry and bitter, with some nice spicy notes coming through later on in the finish. The flavor is nice, just not much complexity going on here. This is drinkable, but I would like a little more to this. There’s just not enough there. I like a lot of Sam Adam’s seasonal offerings, but this one just doesn’t do it for me. It’s not bad, just was expecting a little more. *Edit* I had to go back and re-rate. I think I had this beer too cold. The flavor started to come out more as it warmed.
