3.5 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
Delightfully light for a porter. Very drinkable. Not a heavyweight by any means but not a pushover either.

3.1 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
Very mediocre. No body to speak of and a weird, amateur brew aftertaste. Better than alot of mass produced porters, but if GOOD beer is available, this just doesn’t stack up.

A good porter that has the sweet quality of Ale from the Olde Country or mead. Nice thick quality, good for sore throats. Stay out of your old man’s cough medicine, ’cause this ’ill do it for ’ya

3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
UPDATED: APR 27, 2004 Much better than the name may imply. Honey beer it may be, but the addition is done quite masterfully.

A great porter. (Very good in my chili recipe.) Smokey, yet sweet and a nice bitter finish.

2.9 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
UPDATED: MAY 24, 2009 A bit thin, underdeveloped. Light brown colour. Vague malts, hints of chocolate. Not very complex and it’s a bit thin. Mainstreamish porter.

4.3 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
Sorely missed - another favorite of Sam’s that has since been discontinued. a deep roasted porter that pours to a ruby black hue with a tan creamy head. Served chilled but not cold, the full flavor of the malts and slight hop in the balance make this an enjoyable brew. I never did detect much honey flavor at all - then again I never tasted this side by side with a plain porter. The finish was smooth and silky - hoping they bring this one back! Cheers!

3.8 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 17/20
Another great SA beer impossible to find here in N. FL and do I miss it. Not a big or bold Porter by any means, but extremely well balanced and classy. Mild chocolate malt nose and flavor with just a touch of honey sweetness floating in the background. A bit thin on the follow through, but its strength is in its balance and restraint. A classic.
