3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
Aroma: dark, roasted malt, slightly of orangy honey, fresh American hops, vaguely of vanilla. There’s something very interesting going on here – there’s a citrusy scent that adds a fiery quality. Not bad at all. Knäckebröd.
Flavour: nice, very rustic, rye bread with burnt flour on. Nice, subtle honey sweetness goes hand in hand with the warm malts. The floral qualites are more evident in the aftertaste which also shows a more sophisticated side, slightly reminiscent of a grassy islay or speyside single malt.
Appearance: very dark reddish brown with the typical beige head
Palate: nice, reminiscent of a bock and… well… American porter. Medium fizzy, only slightly creamy. Quite nice.

2.9 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
Rated from old notes. Pours ruby red into the glass. Medium bodied, sweet, although with no definite honey taste. Mild, malty aroma. Decent.

3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
12 oz bottle from Food Lion, Richmond, VA The porter poured a deep ruddy brown opaque color with tan head and lacing. This is nice looking porter. The aroma of roasted malts and spice greets you. The taste is most complex with the honey muting some of the raw roasted malts. I like this porter. There is also some light chocolate noted in the taste. The medium body porter has a soft carbonation. The finish was clean with some subtle bitterness for the English Goldings. This is wonderful porter for the ski lodge.

3.2 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
Originally rated on 1/18/08. It delivers what it promises, a smell and taste of honey, roasted malts, a tiny bit of bite. A decent porter, kind of interesting worth and trying in the variety pack

3.1 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 16/20
A porter with beautiful light brown and persistent foam. Pronounced aromas of hard toasted malt and a little honey discerned already. The taste is very caramelized and have a little coffee note. There is no definite taste of honey, but a sweetness as possibly derived from honey, but might as well be a malt sweetness. It used a good deal of malt in this porter, and I also sense a little smoke and a little anise taste. It’s a very tasteful porter, but everything else had also surprised me when it is a Boston Beer. Here quality is always in the top, and this time is no exception. It is highly recommended.

2.9 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 12/20
Old rating. Bottle from Old Town. Aromas of honey, roasted malt and grains with a hint of chocolate. Sweet on the palate with a slightly bitter dry finish. Not a fan of the honey action.

3.5 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
RATED 5/14/2009 ON BEERPAL: I’m just a fan of porters, so naturally I like this beer. I disagree with the reviewer above who didn’t notice the honey. I actually fully taste the honey in the flavor, along with some other sweets from the malts. Aroma has hints of honey as well. The apperance is dark brown with a medium body. Not too heavy, a good dinner beer. I would buy it again, especially if on sale again for $6.99 a six.

3.3 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
"similar in body to the SA Holiday Porter, subtract spices, add honey, this is what you get. I like it just a touch better than the holiday. If you like dark beer and honey, this one’s for you."

Pours a nice darker color with white head. Honey on the nose, sweetness, malt, and some roasted character; follows onto the palate. Finishes with a honey sweetness.

3.9 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
Beautiful rocky head with plentiful lace on the glass.
Wow, the honey smell is quite strong. I was expecting it to be far more subtle. Needless to say, it is sweet. There is nearly none of the typical porter smells.
The taste is completely different from the smell--lots of cocoa, little honey or sweetness. Enough hop to create a bitter finish with chocolate in the background. Very complex. Good body and carbonation.
I like this beer although I find the smell to be a bit deceiving from what you ultimately drink.

A little too sweet for a porter for my liking..should be drier, but the honey aroma and taste were different.
