Commercial Description:
A full-bodied English-style Porter, this brew has a substantial roasted malt character. Brewed with traditional English Ale hops and sweetened with Scottish heather honey. The honey balances the spiciness from the hops and the roasted malt character. The beer is finished by dry hopping with English Goldings.

bottle given to me by BeerGestapo. thanks Mike. pours a deep brown, nearly black with an out of control tan head. smells is roasted malts, cookie dough, and a bit of grass. the flavor is much better than I expected, has a roasted character to it as well as a bit of coffee. the honey really comes out in the finish to balance out the bitter, maybe a tad too sweet, but interesting. nice full body although a tad bit cloying. kudos to Sam Adams for actually making one of their "experimental" beers drinkable.

Brown/black pour. A fairly standard porter with a little honey near and at the finish. A solid medium body. The hops help finish it a bit bitter and clean. Once again not bad for being mass produced. I think some of these ratings are low just because of that fact.

Bottle. Mainly opaque dark brown with a reddish tint and a tan aerated head. Slight honey, vanilla cola, slight diacetyl. Thin, fizzy, gassy. Flavors beat the aromas. Nice roasted malt aftertaste following a not-to-sweet hint of honey. A little burnt in the finish. Decent supermarket beer. Much better as it warms up.

Bottle poured to glass. Smokey roasted malts aroma, with a hint of honey. Large creamy head. A little hard to judge appearance because I had to use an opaque cup. Sweet flavor up front quickly followed by a bitter hoppy and slightly acidic aftertaste.

Burnt honey aroma mixed in typical porter features; malts, but sweeter than your average porter. Moist palate.
