Commercial Description:
2005 info:This lager is made with fresh Bavarian hops, straight off the vines from the 2005 harvest in Germany, and packs an 8.8 percent alcohol content that's twice as strong as most popular beers.
Boston Beer Co. is brewing only 60,000 24-oz. bottles, which are due to begin arriving in stores in November.

2007 release info:
Yes, we're a little obsessed with hops. Every autumn for over twenty years, Jim Koch has traveled to one of the oldest hop-growing regions in the world, the Hallertau region of Bavaria in Germany, to hand-select Noble Bavarian hops, including the Hallertau Mittelfrueh variety. This special variety is considered to be one of the best in the world, prized for its unique taste and aroma. Samuel Adams® Hallertau Imperial Pilsner is a celebration of these extraordinary hops. This beer is one of the hoppiest in the world, without being overly bitter. With the first sip, you will experience an explosion of some of the world's finest hops. And we mean “explosion” in a good way. Brewed as a showcase for the hops, this bold brew highlights the spicy, citrus flavors and aromas of the Hallertau Mittelfrueh hops that are abundant in the recipe. The intense hops flavor is balanced with the slight sweetness from the malt. The brew remains pleasantly well-balanced from beginning to end, due to the quality of the hops, and continues to always be, well, "hoppy," providing hop lovers with an amazing beer drinking experience.
Available in 12oz. bottles.

Bottle. Golden orange colour with a small white head. Aroma: Spicy and floral hops, sweet malt, alcohol. Flavor: Lots of spicy and floral hops, pine resin, sweet malt, caramel, citrus, oily, a bit of alcohol. Hoppy, but dangerously drinkable and smooth.

Bottle. Pours clear gold with a white head. The aroma is sweet juicy malt with fragrant hops. The flavor has a strong floral hop profile with a long hoppy finish. Very nice.

bottle thanks to swalden 28. poured gold with a slight haze and thin white head that left some lacing. aroma of floral notes, citrus, hops, and a bit of yeast. flavor was of course hops, some grass, with a nice bitter bite. medium body and low carb. this was a nice bitter brew by sam. <---try saying that 10 times fast.

Bottle. Aroma of huge, sticky, floral hops, big toasted biscuit malt, some citrus. Flavor of all those sticky hops with the malt showing more earthiness, some tart fruits. Bitter finish. Lovely.

Crushed with Jakebra. Some nast on the nose. Got some lots of hops, and some poop and nast maybe in the flavor. Lots of bitter and citrus hops, and some citrus nast. More yum than nast though. It’s aight.

Golden colour. Lot´s of hops makes this one smell caramel and citrus. The flavor is intensely hoppy. But it´s hoppy in another way compared to a standard IPA. It dosen’t taste citrus at all. Very bitter.

Bottle. Pours dark rich gold with minimal head. Smells very piney and grassy. Alot of hops. Tastes very good, cross between a good pilsner and a good IPA. Tons of hops. Bitter, with some earthy tones, sweet and then followed by grainy malts. This is one of Sam Adams better beers.

golden body, fluffy white head, not much lacing. nose is musty grain, but rather airy. flvor is sweet grain, offset nicely by a hoppy bitterness. muth-feel is a little frizzy, lightly bitter, dry finish. i rather enjoyed this beer.
