IPAsavedMYlife (32), Tallahassee, Florida, USA Jan 27, 2008 Updated: Feb 9, 2008This beer smells like the sweet nectar of life! Very strong orange and nectar aroma. Head was orange but went away quickly. Almost no lacing. If you crossed Stoudts and BoulderBrewing Co. Mojo, you would get this beer. Finishes very piney like a good IPA should. If they made this beer with a hint more orange on the nose it would be fantastic. The head went away quickly, and so did the bottle. This is the first Sam Adams I actually like. Sir+Drinksalot (30), Iowa, USA Jan 27, 2008 Very strong hops and bitter action. Definite Double IPA punch; lots of flavor. Could not believe this was a Sam Adams. Really balanced brew. A pilsner? If all pilsners were like this I would drink them a heck of a lot more! oldpainless (35), fort mill, South Carolina, USA Jan 25, 2008 BB beer co. is a great company & doing great things to expose people to REAL beers. I thank them. Having said that...
To the hop heads & ipa folk this beer will likely come highly recommended. To me it was an assult on the palate. The hops were overwelming. I couldnt even tell what the beer tasted like thru the hops. It could have been a pils or pale ale or colt 45 w/ a S*** load of hops dropped in.
Many will appreciate it ,but it was not for me. 45thstbrewer (94), Conowingo, Maryland, USA Jan 22, 2008 I bought a 4-pack of this Imperial Pilsner and thought that it was great. It seemed to me that it had a unique hop taste TBone (6675), Pori, Finland Jan 20, 2008 Bottled 2007 release
Hazy orange color, very small white head. Bready hoppy aroma with hints of flowerness. Starts malty, then some bready pine needle hoppy flavors leading to bursts of hop juice in the finish. Long piney, hoppy aftertaste. Ok, it is technically pils, but flavor is more like the crossover of APA and IPA. tomthompson89 (1453), Toronto, Ontario, Canada Jan 19, 2008 Nice imperial pils!!!! light orange color, nice foamy head, nose is sweet, some pine sol, fresh. tons and tons of hops on the flavor but with a mild malt base. great beer badnewsbeers (1026), Grand Rapids, Michigan, USA Jan 19, 2008 beautiful apricot-colored body with no head..nose of light grassy hops complementing the large tropical fruit hints, spice, and yeast..quite exceptional and very inviting..flavor is large in grass and pine with a subtle lemon-like finish..sour funk and yeast present as well..metallic notes in the finish as well Robro54 (5), Rock Hill, South Carolina, USA does not count Jan 19, 2008 I am grateful to Sam Adams for the variety of beer they off. This is one of the best of the line in my opinion. The beer poured fine with a nice off white head, the head did not last long but left a nice lacing. The aroma hinted at the yeasty bread like hops in the beer. the hallertau hops have a piney taste to me but most hops do IMO. Tjis beer reminds me of my first German beer. Strong , flavorful and complex.
