markwise (1132), 15 Minutes from Kuhnhenn in, Florida, USA Jan 1, 2008 I love hoppy beer, and I was very excited that Sam Adams got in on the action, but I was very disappointed in this beer. The 2007 crop poured a nice dark golden color and began with a very clean and hoppy taste, but it finished like gasoline. The beer was good until swallowed. Tilley4 (218), Huron, Tennessee, USA Jan 1, 2008 Man, I loved this beer. I wish they would make it available year round. I would keep some in the fridge.
Very pleasant surprise from SA here. Not sure it’s "intense" from a hop standpoint, but it is hoppy as hell, I’ll give them that.
Tastes much like some of the better IPAs that I’ve had.
Very nice and hoppy with a bitter aftertaste that is nice as well. fidelis83 (707), Clinton, Iowa, USA Dec 31, 2007 Pours a milky apricot orange, 1 finger off white head fading to 1/4" with lacing throughout. I have a cold so aroma and flavor a a bust. I did however pick out a slightly mossy pine and citrus hop, with a sort of floral (thistle?) sweetness aroma. Flavor is spicy, citrus, and grassy hops, vert bitter in a well balanced very enjoyable way. Palate is suprisingly thin while being very sticky and sweet. Finish is all spicy floral hops with a little alcohol coming through on the final stretch. Overall if you love hops as I do, you will absolutely love this beer. Drink4Satan (585), Bristol, Rhode Island, USA Dec 31, 2007 Pours a cloudy orange with a thin off-white head that fades to a sudsy cap. Nice zesty and earthy noble aroma with a ton of malt sweetness. Strong caramel and toffe malt flavour is overlain with zesty, citiric hops and some booze coming through. There is a squash-like vegetable flavour created in the concoction. The finish has a piney resin hop bite that lingers for a while. The mouthfeel is slick and full with a dry, hoppy finish and soft, tingly carbonation. emerica56 (575), Bristol, Rhode Island, USA Dec 31, 2007 This beer is pretty amazing all around has a great color and texture as well as aroma, and the flavor is so bitter and sweet. There is a massive thick sudsy head which covers the cloudy orange color.Along the sides of the glass there is some streaky laceing which is very thick. The aroma is very hoppy with some hints of caramel malt with some lemon grass. As i sip on it i can taste the lemon grass with orange peel as well, and the booze is not well hidden but the bitter after taste makes up for that. Over all this is well balanced between the intence citrus bitterness and the creamy and malty after taste as the beer is going down your throat. JMillerO (5), USA does not count Dec 31, 2007 Kudos to a large brewery operation for producing a distinctive beer. My local source ran out quickly before Xmas and I was only able to enjoy 4 of these...a hop festival in a bottle. CaptBier (301), Birmingham, Alabama, USA Dec 30, 2007 Bottle. Pours a nice, rich, light amber with very little head and great lacing. Aroma is subtle fruity with floral undertones. Initial taste is a pleasant bitterness with a hint of light maltiness. Aftertastes is a little disconcerting with acidic finish, ummmmm and a little bitter for this style. Cruzan59 (197), Lititz, Pennsylvania, USA Dec 29, 2007 4-pack (2007) from Total Wine, River Edge, NJ...label is totally different from what is shown here...bottle pours cloudy orange with a white head...great floral aroma with scents of ripe orange...taste is of sweet citrus and bitter HOPS...smooth mouthfeel with good lacing on my Simon Pearce Beaker (gift from the in-laws...thanks!)...great hoppy brew, right up my alley.
