Commercial Description:
2005 info:This lager is made with fresh Bavarian hops, straight off the vines from the 2005 harvest in Germany, and packs an 8.8 percent alcohol content that's twice as strong as most popular beers.
Boston Beer Co. is brewing only 60,000 24-oz. bottles, which are due to begin arriving in stores in November.

2007 release info:
Yes, we're a little obsessed with hops. Every autumn for over twenty years, Jim Koch has traveled to one of the oldest hop-growing regions in the world, the Hallertau region of Bavaria in Germany, to hand-select Noble Bavarian hops, including the Hallertau Mittelfrueh variety. This special variety is considered to be one of the best in the world, prized for its unique taste and aroma. Samuel Adams® Hallertau Imperial Pilsner is a celebration of these extraordinary hops. This beer is one of the hoppiest in the world, without being overly bitter. With the first sip, you will experience an explosion of some of the world's finest hops. And we mean “explosion” in a good way. Brewed as a showcase for the hops, this bold brew highlights the spicy, citrus flavors and aromas of the Hallertau Mittelfrueh hops that are abundant in the recipe. The intense hops flavor is balanced with the slight sweetness from the malt. The brew remains pleasantly well-balanced from beginning to end, due to the quality of the hops, and continues to always be, well, "hoppy," providing hop lovers with an amazing beer drinking experience.
Available in 12oz. bottles.

24oz. bottle. Fresh, fruity hop aroma, some lemon, herbal accents and spice mingling with faintly sweet, crackery malts and faint hints of celery. Hazy light rosy amber color, bottle conditioned, with a fine, uneven, lasting head and copious amounts of lacing. Flavor profile is fairly bitter to start, becoming fruity and sweeter throughout with a burst of juicy, leafy, citric hop flavors and pale maltiness coming together for the close, which is almost exclusively hoppy, seeing more satisfying bitterness linger on for quite some time. Palate is lightly creamy and effervescent, body is medium-full. Highly flavorful and surprisingly good overall.

2007 Hallertau release from 12-ounce bottle. Poured a light yet thick straw-golden color. Quite pointed, sharp hop, yeast, and/or malt blend. Glad this genre of beer is making its presence. Very hoppy and super bitter. Finishes clean and with taste buds still in tact.

Bottle. Pours hazy gold with a dense, off-white head. Earth, resin an citrus nose. Full body and moderate carbonation. The taste starts sweet with cookie dough and alcohol. A bit of chalk and salt, and a good bit of pine in the finish.

12oz bottle, 2007. Big nose of Bavarian hops, pine, citrus and earth. Poured an amber orange with an off white head. One of the better brews I’ve had from Sam Adams.

2005 24 oz. bottle via trade with hippie4beer (a little past its prime) here goes anyways - Pours a hazy golden color with a light head. Spotty lacing. Good carbonation. Has a grassy hop aroma. Flavor is bitter with some malt in the background. I noticed the alcohol when it hit my stomach. Medium body. Would have liked to tried this beer back in the early Spring. Still, a good beer. Thanks Seth
2007 12 oz. bottle from Plaza Liquors - Pours a slightly hazy golden color with a one and a half finger thick off white head. Has a nice herbal hop aroma. Flavor is loaded with hop bitterness with a little grain malt coming through. A very nice tasting Pils.

Clear amber with a viscous white head. Nice spicy hop, pale lager yeast and malt aroma. Medium heavy body and smooth. Good flavor is sweet n spicy herbs, with heavy pale malts. Pretty damn good.

Hazy orange color. Big bold hop aromas, slight malt hiddden beneath it. Flavor is just about all hops. Really enjoyable, building hop finish.

Cloudy dark orange pour in a lager glass. Big white nice head, with big hop aroma. Kind of grassy hops flavor with a thick gritty mouthfeel and an intense tree bark/chewed up aspirin tablet like bitterness. Too medicinal of a bitterness to be truly pleasant for me and killed an otherwise nice, unique beer.
