Samuel Adams Double Bock is brewed with a half pound of malt in each bottle, almost enough for a loaf of bread. This rich intense, lager reveals a deep mahogany color and velvety smooth flavor. Samuel Adams Double Bock is one of our most sought after brews. Enjoy!

Tallahassee, Fl. - Market Square Liquors - 12 oz bottle. Dark copper pour - almost no head whatsoever. Sweet maple syrup aroma. Sweet molasses flavor, some caramel, hint of bubble gum. Alcohol hidden well. Clean, even mouthfeel. Good, but unremarkable. Not outstanding in any on area - put together well - but not deserving of the imperial moniker.

Bottle - Poured a clear ruby red in color with a medium off-white head that hung around and provided some nice lacing on the glass. Aroma is malty and sweet with a small amount of nutty roasted malts. Some dark fruits and brown sugar. Flavor is quite malty with lots of dark fruit (big on prune, dates). Alcohol is muted, but present. I really like this one...

Rather clean looking with thin head and a orange-reddish hue. Nose is a bit fainter than some but still has some of the usual, caramel, dates, brown sugar. Palate is great, very heavy duty, boozy, tingly, warming. Yes it is a big beer. I was a bit worried at the start. This one really needs to be sipped, enjoyed and made to last due to the alcohol comfort. Points off for a lack of the delicacy and balance of the German ones though.

UPDATED: SEP 14, 2009 I suspect this is the same beer as the Double Bock which has more reviews. My bottle says "Imperial" and 9.5% so I put it here. Clear mahogany color, decent head. This is a looker. I also like the rich (almost syrupy) texture and soft carbonation. For me, though, itís a bit too hot. Very malty, (molasses and cherries) and enough hops to balance it. But that booze comes through, both in peppery flavor and a slight burn down the throat. Not my taste in doppelbocks, but you canít say they chintzed on the grains. Re-Rate 7 months later: same 4-pack with a bit more age tastes better, less alcohol burn, prominent cocoa flavor. Up from 3.1 to 3.4.

Not too bad at all. Has a decent deep red/brown color. Aroma is a sweeter malty scent with with some fruity scents. Also has a faint alcohol type of scent, Iím not sure how to explain it (and yes, I know thereís alcohol in here). Sweet fruity taste that is very smooth. No bite at all in the aftertaste. Good job guys.

12 oz bottle. Poured deep amber in color with a medium sized off white head. Aroma of sweet malts, light fruit, and toffee. Tastes of caramel, toffee, sweet fruits, and brown sugar. Hid the 9.5% pretty well. Not bad.

Deep rusty brown copper body with a light yellowish khaki head. The aroma was rich caramel and iced tea. There was also a strong peach note. The taste is iced tea and toffee. Deep with woody notes and tobacco. This is malt and alcohol bomb for me. The burnt sugar character just got worse and worse throughout the glass.

Sweetish, pruney aroma, though muted. Clear, deep red-brown with a thin, lightly tinged whitish head. Fair label. Good, for a bock. Grainy bitterness, toasty malt, raisins. A little astringent, medium-long tangy finish with alcohol vapors. Slightly heavy-bodied. Gets smoother as you get into it. Another good offering from Sam. MSL, $2.50/bottle.

Bottle shared by Robert at SL. This bottle was at home. Poured into a snifter. Dark red in color, ok head. Malty sugar aroma. Taste is malty, brown sugar, chocolate a little fruity. Average texture, alcohol was hidden well. Overall just a little too sweet for my liking..

Reddish pour with an off white head. Sweet aroma of caramel and fruit. Flavor is carame, fruit, yet significantly less sweeter than last years. Some warming alcohol in the finish. Overall, much less sweet, tasty, awesome beer.
