Our take on the stout brewed by 18th century English brewers for the Russian Imperial Court of Catherine II. The special malted barley in this intense and massive brew delivers rich flavors like dark chocolate, coffee and anise.

Rated on 5-20-2009 (Bottle) This beer pours a medium sized fizzy light brown head, opaque dark brown body, fair amount of lacing, and very little carbonation. The Aroma is malty, chocolate, coffee, and alcohol. The Taste is bittere, malty, coffee, chocolate, boozy, and this beer has a dry finish. The Palate is tingly and this beer is medium bodied. Overall, the ABV comes through in the Aroma and the Taste, but not over-the-top. A beer worth trying.

One of my favorites, and the cheapest Imperial Stout that you are bound to find. Great taste of licorice dominates, and this one is for sipping like fine brandy.

@ Havregatan.

Pours dark creamy brown/black with small tan head that fades. Aroma is sweet with chocolate, dark fruit and slight roasted coffee. Taste follows with a dry finish. I like it but it needs more roasted and toasted malt.

33cl bottle. Pours pitch black with a nice thick creamy head. Aroma and taste is full of vanilla, coffee, chocolate, roasted malts, lactose and hops. Mouth feel is thinner than most RISs, increasing drinkability. Lovely, well-balanced brew! ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Poured from a bottle. Dark brown color, short lived tan head. Tart roasted malt smell.
