COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Our take on the stout brewed by 18th century English brewers for the Russian Imperial Court of Catherine II. The special malted barley in this intense and massive brew delivers rich flavors like dark chocolate, coffee and anise.

Papsoe (25094) - Frederiksberg, DENMARK - AUG 10, 2009
Bottle 35,5 cl. Pours completely black and opaque wiith a light brown head. Hard roasted malts in the nose - perhaps even tar! Very full-bodied, intensely hard roasted malts, dried fruits and licorice. Some malt bitterness in the finish and warming alcohol. An immaculate Imperial Stout. Shame about it’s low score - is that simply because it’s a Sam Adams? 100709

Bottle from The Liquor Collection, Honolulu, HI
Black color, with small beige head. Aroma of roasted malt, with treacle, light liquorice and light oxidisation. Correct body structure, with flavor of roasted malt, some chocolate; smooth and a bit creamy, with light ending liquorice and pepper.
Not bad, quite big, but still unexciting.

31st July 2010. ChrisO’s ’Raise The Roof’ tasting.
Spider crawl notes at the end of a long days rating! Opaque black - brown beer. Fresh dark malt, an undertone of cherry and a little malt roastiness.
