12oz bottle. Pours a murky orange color with a finger of fluffy white head. Aroma has a slight malty breadyness, with some citrus, spices, and lots of alcohol. Taste is very boozy, with some spices and maltyness.

2.5 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 10/20
Let’s take a quick look at the commercial description:
Sam Adams Imperial White pushes the boundaries of a witbier. While the brew delivers orange and coriander notes typical of a witbier, it has a bigger mouthfeel and body. It is truly a unique brew.
I agree with the ’truly a unique brew’ part. I can detect a bit of coriander after my taste buds plow through a mountain of residual sugar. And after I finished the glass I do get some residual orange. So I guess that qualifies as sort of like a witbier. Or it could just be a malt liquor with a lot of residual sugar and some spice.

1.7 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 3/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 4/20
Poured golden haze, one finger head, taste of carmel hits right away with several other flavors overwhelming the palate. Too busty for my taste.

3.1 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
Bottle from bhensonb. Pours light amber with a rich off-white head and a fruity and alcohol aroma There is a strangely sweet malty flavor that finishes very bitter and peppery. Not a good combination of tastes.

2.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 11/20
September 2012. Bottle. The high alcohol is bringing this beer out of balance and makes it less enjoyable. The malt and yeast is showing through, but I did not enjoy this one.

0.9 AROMA 2/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 1/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 1/20
"Sam Adams Imperial White pushes the boundaries of a witbier", is what they say. And boy do they. Too bad the boundary is a cliff into a cesspool. God-awful. Absolutely no balance whatsoever. "Lets bombbard our customers with all sorts of flavors and hope that it sells." Horrible.
