COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Sam Adams Imperial White pushes the boundaries of a witbier. While the brew delivers orange and coriander notes typical of a witbier, it has a bigger mouthfeel and body. It is truly a unique brew.

UPDATED: MAR 2, 2014 Bottle->weizen. Hazy orange/gold with small white head. Aroma: coriander, orange, wheat. Taste: wheat, spices, citrus peel. Oily and boozy, somewhat cloying. Not a fan. Second taste after a year in the cellar. Served very cold. Deep orange with bare head. A: caramel malt, dark fruit, dank yeast. T: lots of caramel malt, some coriander and citrus peel, but more subdued and rounded than when fresh. This was a hot mess when new, has mellowed in the cellar, but still lacks balance.

disappointing for me tastes straight boozy for me which masks the spices and malt which comes off sticky sweet.

Hazy golden color. Aroma is just like blue moon. Taste very similar to blue moon but a bit more spice. Not as fruity as blue moon but packs a heftier punch. Must drink cold. Flavor becomes significantly more alcoholic when warm.

Pours a golden-amber color. Very little head. Very light, orange, syrupy aroma. Very big mouthfeel; the 10% abv is not hidden. Flavor is a very intensified witbier (heavy on the coriander?). Delicious, but intense!

Bottle from Five Points Bottle Shop (Lumpkin) in Athens. Big candyish, peach nose, spicey and sweet. Hazy dark orange. Muted sweetness, sweet tea-like, in initial / smooth, with some umami in mid, with a more wine-like character / alc, grows strong in the throat, with a mild sweet aftertaste. Medium-to-slghtly-thick body. Unusual stuff. Huge body for a wit. So much alcohol, so noticeable. Alc. and body just about swallow up the spice.

Honestly not the biggest fan. I’d prefer a 10.3 ABV Blue Moon. I’m more of an IPA guy but for you wheat ale lovers out there its worth picking up a four pack!
