COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Sam Adams Imperial White pushes the boundaries of a witbier. While the brew delivers orange and coriander notes typical of a witbier, it has a bigger mouthfeel and body. It is truly a unique brew.

12oz bottle, sample out of a plastic cup at work. Pours a semi hazy golden orange. Aromas of sweet malt, spice, coriander, light tropical fruits(pear, tangerine). Flavors bring a sweet fruity entry with more tropical fruits, pear, citrus, and some light hops. Finish is spicy and light hops.

Pour is a cloudy orange with a large white head. Aroma is nice with some corriander and clove then comes the alcohol. Flavor is candi sugar and a big alcohol punch. A little bit of dark fruit is left on the tounge after the swallow but the alcohol is still there. It looks and smells good but its just too boozy. Does the world really need an 10% witbier?

To me this bad boy was boozey. Had a nice aroma to it and the pour was clear and orange though i was expecting a cloudy white color. Flavor was dominated by alcohol, but as it warmed i could pick out the orange and coriander. Not a bad beer.

UPDATED: MAR 27, 2011 Bottle split with Pwn3d. Pours hazy dark amber. Cherry aroma - reminiscent of DFH Red and White. Flavor is cherry, slight slight alc in the aftertaste.

Good stuff. Lots of orange/coriander in the aroma. Malty sweet belgian aromas, alcohol. Taste follows suit. Lots of coriander. The alcohol doesn’t hide itself, but it doesn’t distract either. Finishes spicy with moderate dryness, orange, and Belgian candy. Very decent.

Pours a pale amber with a minimal but lasting white head. Faint aroma of dry white wine. Sweet malt taste, along with buttery toffee and maple. Not to be negative, but there are some slight malt liquor characteristics in the aftertaste. Smooth and pleasant for the hefty ABV.

Bottle. Pours a radiant yet cloudy orange color with a lacy, off-white head. Aroma is citrus, clove, coriander, malt sweetness, and a slight detection of the alcohol (last time you really notice this is a high-alcohol beer). Aroma is coriander, spice, citrus, clove, dark fruits, and a bit of a wheat characteristic in here. I didn’t detect the alcohol within the taste, at least not as much as you generally should for 10.3%. It’s sweeter than most witbiers, but it worked for me. I think it’s fantastic - Sam Adams was always known for good, solid, yet unspectacular beers. They’re upping their game.

Pours a cloudy amber color with an off-white head. Aroma is of coriander, citrus, dark fruits, toffee, and some alcohol. Thick on the palate with coriander, dark fruits, spices, wheat, and some alcohol warming to finish it up. Too much sweetness for my liking on this one.

Pours an orange color.... Alcohol content evident in the aroma... Sweet fruity flavor with a crisp clean finish that attempts to conceal the high alcohol content, which it does fairly nicely... Definitely taste the alcohol, but for a 10% beer, very drinkable...

Bottle from CelticBrew, shared at our last tasting. Clear, almost brilliant orange with a rather spare white head. Light fruitiness on the nose, honey, and soft spice. Light to medium body, smooth, but the palate washes out quickly. This is fairly sweet, with little bitterness to balance. I was expecting something that was a little more crisp and refreshing. It was just too sweet.
