COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Sam Adams Imperial White pushes the boundaries of a witbier. While the brew delivers orange and coriander notes typical of a witbier, it has a bigger mouthfeel and body. It is truly a unique brew.

12 oz Bottle. This series of beers piqued my interested when I heard about it awhile back. It’s a good move on the part of Sam Adams to expand this market. There are not too many year-round "imperial" beers with such a wide distribution. The beer pours with a smotth, white head that fades to a persistent thin ring. Aroma includes wheat, orange, coriander, spice, and hints of alcohol. Flavor is similar with some honey and vanilla mixed in. Finishes with moderate to strong astringency. Mouthfeel is rather thick for a white. I think this is a strong effort on the part of SA.

Sampled from a 22oz bottle, summer of 2013. Great aroma with adequate flavors, but probably would not seek out again.

Pours deep orange with plenty of white head. Aroma is banana, pear, apple and malty sweetness. Really wonderful. Flavor, however, is lacking. Nothing really comes through. Some fruitiness. Thick mouthfeel. Finish is hot with alcohol and ruins a good thing.

"Sam Adams Imperial White pushes the boundaries of a witbier", is what they say. And boy do they. Too bad the boundary is a cliff into a cesspool. God-awful. Absolutely no balance whatsoever. "Lets bombbard our customers with all sorts of flavors and hope that it sells." Horrible.

Bottle. Poured a amberish color. Smelled spicey and yeast. Taste of a big big wit lots of spice, too much spice.

This is a pretty nice brew by Sam Adams. I’m not the biggest fan of their regular brews, but they do the imperials well. An interesting take on a belgian white, with a very strong flavor and high alcohol content. Poured a turbid light orange with a lacy head. Very malty aroma. Has a sweet and spicy flavor. Slightly too much carbonation, and could have a thicker feel.

UPDATED: MAR 23, 2011 Small, quickly dissolving head over body the color and translucence of orange pekoe tea. Aroma is apricot, ginger spice and a little soap. Taste is a wonderful balance of sweet, bitter, and saltiness. Palate is a satisfying, lively carbonated, medium bodied, with a welcomed, long, perfect, fruit finish.

Banana and bubblegum is what this beer smells like. Definitely unusual for a white. Actually a more interesting offer from Sam Adams.

Pours hazy golden with a small white head. Wheat and orange in the aroma. Citrus and flowers in the flavor with no change. A wit with a bit more bite.

Orange with and off white head and nice lacing. Aroma was cloying orange, grass and cardboard. Flavor was spicy, orange and thick.
