COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Sam Adams Imperial White pushes the boundaries of a witbier. While the brew delivers orange and coriander notes typical of a witbier, it has a bigger mouthfeel and body. It is truly a unique brew.

This one pours a deep rich apricot color with a tall froth that lingers. Strong sticky sweet aromatics come into play here with a bit of spice. Full nectar weight with creamy carbonation set the stage pushing cloyingly sweet stonefruit essence forefront. Not much left after this sweet malt sludge overfill. This is more like a n English barleywine in style. Very little spice if any. The finish is more acidic than bittered. Ugh! I’m not sure why this rates as high as it does @ 86 for style as of 4-4-2009. I will say the texture on this is outstanding.

Pours amber, surprisingly with a beige head. Smell is buttery with some light spice and alcohol presence. Taste is very sweet from the beginning. Syrupy sweet, creamy wheat beer flavor. Ugh... Too sweet. Syrupy body, and soft creamy carbonation.

Chewy, spicy, stinky. Orange. Dirty, like they made it imperial by adding a scoop of dirt and a handful of sugar. Icky.

Pours a dark cloudy yellow with a frothy white head. Aroma of lemon, tangerine heavy spice and slight banana. Flavor is overpowering spice and very citrusy. Sticky short finish. Its tough to get past the over use of spices, frankly I didn’t finish this one.

Bottled at Örebro Öl- och Whiskeyfestival. Cloudy pale amber, small head. Sweet and fruity, some corander. Near full bodied with mushy, swampy mouthfeel, lots of syrup and burning alcohol finish. Reminiscent of cheap, fruity super strong lagers...

Pours reddish amber, thin off white. Aroma is very sweet, full of vanilla and blackcurrant. Some fusel alcohol. Flavour is big, full of residual sugars, sickly sweet and fruity. Coriander.Syrupy, sweet and hard to drink.

12 oz bottle: Pours a dark orange with a light head; cloudy with lots of lingering yeast leave this looking very unappealing. Unfortunately, it never got better. Aroma is bland, doughy and bready. Taste is very syrupy with little spice or fruit flavors going on. Strong alcohol; I ended up pouring it out about 1/2 way through.

Aroma was sweet, fruity.. smelled better each time I gave it a whiff. Weird. Appearance of a nice fruity beer with a slight orange hue. Taste was decent, but the mouth feel was disappointing... wayyy too sweet, overwhelming. Not my kind of beer.

Tastes like butter... But at least it’s strong! Frothy with the appearance of a light beer. Some if my friends liked it, but..... it tastes like butter.

UPDATED: NOV 17, 2011 Gosh - - I can’t remember having had this before, but apparently rated it 3.0 back in 2009, and mentioned apricots. This time, there are no apricots. It is kinda syrupy and kinda fizzy. The flavor is all metal pipe and CO2, with a touch of sickly caramel. This beer tastes terrible. I am drawn to high ABV beers like a moth to a flame; that seems to be the point of this beer (the point was definitely not flavor).
