3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 13/20
Presentation: It was poured from a brown 12oz bottle into a tulip glass.
Appearance: From the pour I got a bright orange body with lighter yellow hues at the sides of the glass. (This is much darker than a standard White or Witt beer.) On top was tall creamy off white head with fairly good staying power for a 10+% beer. It slowly fades to a wisp thin layer that makes some slick lacing.
Smell: The aroma has notes of spicy yeast, coriander, and orange peel back up by a mild boozy maltiness.
Taste/Palate: It has a warm and sweet overall character. There is a solid bready and wheat malt base with hints of spice, yeast, and bitter orange peel. Hops are light and blend into the background and the big abv adds warmth. The palate is full, smooth and slightly slick.
Notes: It’s much heavier and less drinkable than a normal Witt beer. This is interesting but way out of style.

3.1 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
Tasted on 9/28/11 from a bottle. Pours a hazy orange-amber with an average, smooth white head that slowly recedes to thin lace. The nose is like a witbier with the coriander showing nicely, but instead of orange peel, I am getting nearly sweet orange juice and a ton of dark caramelization. The flavor is sweet and caramelized up front with the sweet orange juice, moving to the coriander and finishing with some toast. The body is medium plus and quite oily with light carbonation and a long caramelized orange peel finish.

3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
12 oz bottle originally picked up from Jungle Jims right off the truck in February 09 from notes. Pours a hazy amber color with a medium sized white head. The aroma and flavor have pale wheat malts, biscuits, banana, pears, citrus, mild spices, coriander, somewhat syrupy, warming alcohol, niceto see Sam Adams doing ssome bigger beers.

2.8 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 11/20
"first off, the previous reviews, or the sum at least, seem a little harsh to me. while this brew has it’s flaws, i enjoyed it, even though i won’t buy it again at $9-10 a 4-pack. again, the question is why. why take a style that is based on the delicacy of it’s aroma and flavors and imperialize it? must be an american thing. anyway, i had and enjoyed the inperial stout well enough, so i gave the double bock and white a shot as well. i am not a fan of sam adams white, but right on the pour i knew this would be another animal alltogether. right of the bat, this white ale poured a hazy full orange, more resembling an imperial ipa than a wit. obviously, everything from the aroma, the body, to the flavor and finish were amped up citrus, yeast, and maybe coriander in there under the sticky sweet sugar. i enjoyed the aroma, and the flavor wasn’t bad either, but the big sticky, and slightly too sweet body didn’t work, and the alcohol became too prevelant by the end. not as bad as it’s average, but definitely not worth the coin."

3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
bottle @ Chief Market / Lima OH --- Hazy dark amber, good 1" off-white head, curtain of lace. Taste is caramel malt that adds coriander and orange peel in the palate before turning slightly bitter in a finish that slowly turns to alcohol. A big witbier, but well-balanced and appealing.

4.1 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
Transfer from BA review from 6-6-12-
Poured from bottle into a snifter
Appearance – The beer has a hazy nice orange color with a thin white head. The head fades rather fast to leave only a small amount of lacing.
Smell – The aroma is of sweet bread and some nice orange citrus. There are good aromas of yeast as well as a nice boozy aroma which meld quite well with the rest of the aromas.
Taste – The taste starts out big and bready. There is a nice sweetness upfront which is mainly of orange citrus in nature. As the taste advances the citrus sweetness in enhanced with the bready flavor lightening a bit. The yeast flavor starts to build more toward the middle with some flavor of banana accompanying it. These flavors sweeten even more as the taste advances to the end where they are meet with an alcohol flavor that gives a slight burning/warming flavor on the mouth.
Mouthfeel – The body of this beer is on the creamier side with a carbonation level that is also on the higher side. The thick body suits the bready flavors well, while the carbonation complements the sweeter flavors well, with neither the body nor the carbonation really taking away from the beer.
Overall –While on the sweeter side, this is a nice flavorful imperial white. It is easy to drink and is at a good price. Sam does a wonderful job once again ad I would recommend this brew!!
