4.3 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 18/20 AaronDaniel (27) - Connecticut, USA - MAY 25, 2013
Wee Heavy pours a beautiful clear brown that lies black-brown in the glass. There’s a nice off-white fizzy head that quickly dissapates to a thin film that displays moderate lacing. Lacing (along with flavor) increases as the beer warms. Don’t be afraid to let this warm up a bit. This is not a beer to enjoy ice cold.
Caramel, toffee, molasses, sugar, fill the nose with a touch chocolate and honey. This is the kind of nose that makes me anxious to get it in my mouth!
Sweet caramel, sugar, and candy is immediately overpowered by strong roasted malts. The finish is roasted malts and smoke that leaves a lingering after taste of malts, peat and molasses. This beer is bliss going in, and still manages to leave a wonderful impression on the palate. The 10% ABV is righteously masked, and pretty much not perceptible.
There is low-medium carbonation and a medium tongue weight. Although, a little silky, this beer goes down pretty easy.
Overall: this is a "kick ass" brew! Be careful, it combines high alcohol with high drinkability! The look, smell, and taste of this concoction is delightful. This has to be my favorite of the Imperial Series.

0,355 l bottle at Hilpeä Hauki, Helsinki. Almost black fark reddish brown color. Thick malt aroma with charred bread. Sweet and roasty flavor with charred bread crust, some rounded caramel, some toffee and some earthy heathery notes. Full body, smooth palate. Good rich maltiness. There’s something which I don’t like, perhaps it’s peat smoke.

Fruit and malt with a hint of peat aroma. Dark red almost black with a thick long lasting foamy tan head. Very sweet and smooth. Very little bitterness. Full bodied. Dark fruit, peat. Very good.

12 oz bottle from Wilbur’s. Dark reddish brown with a small tan head. The aroma is sweet caramel malts, toffee, light roast and wood, smoky and nutty. Similar flavor, light herbs and hop oil, pretty damn sweet and malty overall. The alcohol is mostly hidden. Pretty full body, thick, chewy and creamy. Not too bad, a little too sweet for me, though.
3.9 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 17/20 Emeister84 (442) - Charlottesville, Virginia, USA - MAY 17, 2013
Toffee, caramel, cherry, nutty, vanilla, and subtle cocoa aromas, with some peaty notes. Dark bronze with a nicely retaining, khaki head. Mostly dry, malty, and strong. Medium-full bodied with low carbonation, warming but not too hot, and finishes with a lingering maltiness and mild booze.
3.4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20 OKplus (379) - Oklahoma, USA - MAY 7, 2013
A - A deep dark brown with garnet highlights. A 1.5 tan head sinks into a thin cap. Delicate lacing towards the bottom.
S - Old lacquered church pews. Dark fruit-figs and prunes sit underneath a smokey peat and alcohol soaked wood.
T - Sour and smoked wood, slightly salty, roasted nutty malt, boozy dark fruit, alcohol invades the entire mouth. Finishes tangy with a woody alcohol-type dryness.
M - Full bodied, viscous, smooth carbonation, alcohol is bold and heavy even for this style.
This beer has great character and deep flavors. The alcohol was screaming through this beer. It had nice low level bitterness. There was no hiding it. It actually develops levels of flavors but was on the verge of taking them over.

12 oz bottle, Andersons. Very dark but clear brown; medium beige head becomes nothing; no lacing. Aroma heavy sweet malt, toffee, sugar. Flavor has the peat and smoke thing evident and it is definitely different; reminds me a bit of Scotch liquor; deep dark malt, caramel; heavy and sweet and boozy. Heavy, full body; very sticky. Nice.
