Commercial Description:
Sam Adams Imperial White pushes the boundaries of a witbier. While the brew delivers orange and coriander notes typical of a witbier, it has a bigger mouthfeel and body. It is truly a unique brew.

Bottle. Heavy malt aromas of cookie and cereal, moderate orange and dough for the hops and yeast with prune, toffee, honey and alcohol in the background. Head is small, wispy, white with a small ring of thin lacing and is fully diminishing. Color is murky, orange/brown. Flavor starts moderately to heavily sweet and lightly acidic, then finishes moderately sweet, lightly acidic and a touch salty. Palate is on the fuller side of medium, oily, with a soft carbonation and has a moderately alcoholic finish. Tilting towards the the sweet side, but everything in this beer is large. Not really true to the style, but a really nice Witbier.

poured a murky copper color with short-lived 2 finger white head. aroma of orange, lemon, coriander, bread. medium mouth feel, spices, rock candy, fruit, yeast, banana. warm going down and very low carbonation. a witbier that’s a bit over the top, but that’s what the brewer was going for! very interesting to try.

Pours a rudy, cloudy orange at the top, paling to yellowish at the bottom. Orange and coriander are indeed present in the aroma with some pungent yeasty esters. Taste is sweet and yeasty, with the alcohol shining through.

bottle 355 ml
Appearance: cloudy amber looking ale with mid light white , slightly creamy top.
Nose: esters , yeasty , dry alcohol , hint of sweet candi malt. Rather bland feel for such brew.7-
Flavor/Palate : better character was shown in flavor department. Fairly sweet ,caramel , candi malts. Alcohol is present , slightly dry with warming finish. Slight citric orange peel like top-front. Interesting brew.14+/20

Hazy, dark, orange, amber pour, with medium viscosity. The off-white-to-tan creamy head settled in at about 2 inches. The nose provides ample evidence of wheat, with citrus, and spicy notes. The nose leans toward power and I expect a hefty brew. There is almost a medicinal note? The palate is rich, enveloping, warm, and lingering. The alcohol is evident. This is not a summer session wheat ale! The Belgian lace is well-developed, leaving clear rings as I sip, although after a few minutes the head is gone. Malty, fruity, less citrus than expected and more coriander with hints of mace and vanilla on the palate. Long, pleasant lingering. I’ll try this again as the weather cools.

Initial Response: I had this at a beer tasting. It was one of the first times they rolled out a couple of kegs of the imperial series after announcing the release so I was intent on trying each. From the tap poured into a small tasting cup. The color was a light yellow. Head was white and quite foamy. The smell was strong with a fruity overtone and a bit hoppy as well. The taste was full of great hop flavor. Fruity taste with hint of tangerine in the background (I may have placed that fruit wrong) with a malty wheat taste as well. This beer was a bit of a surprise. I was second among the friends that tried it and my friends first tasting of it was of dissatisfaction. I greatly liked the beer and i will be picking up a four pack and will update my review when I have more of this good beer.
