Favorite of all time. Well balanced flavors, a little sweet, not too hoppy and bodes well with food.

3.1 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
Dark red brown with a moderate head that doesnít last long. Mothfeel is thin. Aroma is floral hops and malt. Tastes a muted malt flavor and carbonation with a touch of dark malts in the finish. Seems very well balanced and smooth. Drinkable session but with heavier, darker malts.

To me, the best way to enjoy an Irish Red is to let it roll down the back of your tongue. This may be a bad habit that I acquired in college, but it seems to work every time. This Red pours a beautiful clear amber with not much head to talk about- nothing lasting, anyway. I get sweet candy and malts on the nose, with a touch of honey. Thereís nice carbonation. I taste the same, finished by lovely sweet candied honey hops. (Is there such a thing? Can I say this?) This beer has everything Iíd expect from an Irish Red- nothing more, nothing less. Itís hard to describe this beer above that. I donít understand the harsh reviews, as this is a very drinkable beer. I donít expect complexity or richness, and find myself pleasantly not disappointed. Boston can be proud of this Irish Red. Anyone that knows more about Irish Redís is welcome to introduce me to the "finer brews".

2.6 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 9/20
Pours a clear dark amber with small head that leaves quickly and minor lacing. Aroma is sweet bready malts and some funky metallicness. Taste is some sweet malts, then tangy rye, then a dry earthy finish. Palate is moderately carbonated. Not my favorite.

3.6 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 14/20
12 oz. bottle poured into pint glass. Appearance is translucent copper with a minimal off-white head. Like all Irish reds, it looks gorgeous. The aroma is plenty of malt plus some caramel. The taste follows the nose. A solid Irish red.
