COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
This rich and malty ale originated in Ireland in 1710. It has a deep red color and distinctive caramel flavor from its Pale and Caramel malts. The malt sweetness is balanced by the earthy notes of East Kent Goldings hops. Cheers!

Bottle. Typical Sam Adams toasted malt and caramel aroma and flavor. Slightly sweet. Bitter finish. Not my favorite SA, but still a smooth well-finished beer.

bottle. Amber with small head. Mild caramel malt base with minimal hops. Smooth and pleasant. Undistinctive, but pretty nice for the style.

Samuel Adams Irish Red Ale is an ok session ale, but nothing real special. Very little malty caramel aroma coming off this dark red pour with a nice head. Taste is malty with a touch of sweetness, but pretty mild and no complexity. Finish is clean. Irish Red is like craft on training wheels or a gateway beer if you will.

Reviewed from notes. The appearance was a clear yet deep amber/orange colored body with a foamy, cream-colored head, it had a decent amount of lacing on the glass. The smell was hops, sweet and roasty malts. The taste was sweet through crisp and clean malts and hops, hops only come out as the beer warms. The palate was about a medium, moderate amount of carbonation felt on the tongue, sessionable, no aftertaste, malty finish. Overall, this is good for the style and good for me.

From bottle. Little or no aroma. Very smooth with very little taste. Not in the same league as real irish ales.

Bottle. Plain. Trouble calling an Irish red. More hoppy. Sad that I would prefer a Killian’s.

Looks great, a clear ruby red with a bit of orange tinge and a tan head. Crisp malty aromas, but pretty muted and not very interesting. The flavor is great, sweet and doughy with spicy hops to balance it out. Good mouthfeel too, thick and just the right amount of carbonation. Very tasty, one of the better brews out of Sam Adams.

Bottle. Reddish amber with small creamy off-white head, light caramel aroma, caramel-roasted malt taste, low carbonation, thin body, medium finish. Nothing to boast about.

An Irish ale hits the spot on a cool, cloudy day like this one. Right at home in an English pub glass, Irish Red has a dark red hue that’s quite becoming. However, the head is disappointing. Not many off-white bubbles stick around for very long, but the aroma is still fairly impressive with a nice caramel scent. The malty body of this brew creates a taste that reveals caramel, cream, and grains. There’s a hint of toasty flavor, but not as much as I’d like. While good, the creamy sweetness gets dangerously close to being cloying as the beer warms. Overall, though, Irish Red is a fine example of an Irish ale. The beer has decent balance, good aroma, and above-average taste.

Out of bottle. Malty red aroma with an alcoholic backing. In the mouth malt is disappointingly mild, and light hops take over quickly. Finishes quick with hop bitterness. It might be nostalgia soaking, but honestly,I’d take Killan’s over this.

Pours a deep red color. Not much flavor. Any red flavor really dissipates quickly. Would pass on this one.
