Very nice clear red color and decent head/lacing when poured from the bottle. The smell is sweet, malty yeast. The taste is pretty much the same, but with added hoppiness. It finished a little bitter, but not bad. Overall, I liked it but I don’t have a whole lot to say about it, nothing that really stands out. If I happen to see it in the store, I might buy it, but I won’t go looking for it.

Bottle. Reddish amber with small creamy off-white head, light caramel aroma, caramel-roasted malt taste, low carbonation, thin body, medium finish. Nothing to boast about.

An Irish ale hits the spot on a cool, cloudy day like this one. Right at home in an English pub glass, Irish Red has a dark red hue that’s quite becoming. However, the head is disappointing. Not many off-white bubbles stick around for very long, but the aroma is still fairly impressive with a nice caramel scent. The malty body of this brew creates a taste that reveals caramel, cream, and grains. There’s a hint of toasty flavor, but not as much as I’d like. While good, the creamy sweetness gets dangerously close to being cloying as the beer warms. Overall, though, Irish Red is a fine example of an Irish ale. The beer has decent balance, good aroma, and above-average taste.

Out of bottle. Malty red aroma with an alcoholic backing. In the mouth malt is disappointingly mild, and light hops take over quickly. Finishes quick with hop bitterness. It might be nostalgia soaking, but honestly,I’d take Killan’s over this.

Pours a deep red color. Not much flavor. Any red flavor really dissipates quickly. Would pass on this one.

Decent Samuel Adams seasonal. Pours a beautiful clear ruby red color with a thick tan head. Not too much smell, just a bit malty. Taste is similar, a bit malty with some hops in the finish. Tastes a little watery. Had in the bottle.

Cant say that sam adams makes a terrible beer, but this one is not one of their best. The flavor is an alcoholic ale but the aroma is light malty and hops.

From a taster on a business trip to Toledo, 2/25/2014, 12 fl oz, 5.8% a/v
Pours a rich deep red with a nice tan head. Aromas of rich malt, caramel and stone fruit. Taste is deep stone fruit sweetness, caramel malt, and just enough hops to back it up. Well balanced, great taste. Not my favorite style but well executed.

Bottle into a glass. Pours an almost red, amber color with a thin white head that dissipates quickly. Malty, biscuity aroma with almost no hops. Medium mouthfeel. Very sweet, malty flavor. A decent beer.
