pkbites (253), Milwaukee, Wisconsin, USA Feb 17, 2008 This beer is confused. It pours a beautiful off-red with a rich and creamy malt head.
Excellent nose of fresh bakery and caramel.
But that’s where it ends. The flavor skips around. It’s not complex and not simple. This is one of the most hard to describe tastes I’ve come across. It doesn’t really taste like a true irish red, but I can’t tell what it’s trying to do. I don’t think it does either. It’s not terrible, but it’s not all that good either. I’m rather disapointed in it, and probably won’t try it again.
tgncc (235), Bellmore, New York, USA Aug 29, 2008 Nice aroma, mainly of caramel malts. Maybe a slight aroma of bread dough. The appearance is attractive, a translucent red, with persistent off-white head. The flavor is sweet caramel, malty, slight hoppiness for balance. The palate leaves a moderate hop signature. Good beer overall. Godd session ale. KyotoLefty (64), Kyoto, Japan Aug 29, 2008 Bottle. Medium brown/red, off-white head. Malty, fruity aroma, with dark fruits, cherry, hops, citrus. Nice malt flavor, good hop balance. Nice but not very interesting. gbdub (30), Ann Arbor, Michigan, USA Aug 29, 2008 Light copper brown pour, thick off white head. Lightly sweet malt and mild floral citrusy hops on the nose. Thinnish body with a tingle of carbonation. Primarily malty flavor with a dry finish. bretupdegraff (52), , Indiana, USA Aug 28, 2008 Poured into pint glass - dark amber with a nice head that lasted. aroma was better/stronger than most SA brews. nice flavor - very drinkable steview (746), Oceanside, California, USA Aug 27, 2008 malty with a lot of caramel of course, musty, and buttery; some notes are found at the bottom of the glass when nearly gone and a lot warmer; but overall it is not really interesting--mineral water with some caramel swirl bread, and a little drizzle of this and that to fall short of justice.
