redgold07 (291), Fort Worth, Texas, USA May 1, 2008 Quite good... one of my favorite Sam Adams brews. Pours an amber/red color with a slight white head. Quite malty with a definitel caramel flavor.
12 oz. bottle.
Boutip (1745), Gatineau, Quebec, Canada Aug 20, 2008 Bottle: Poured a deep caramel color ale with a huge light brown color head with some good retention but minimal lacing. Aroma consists of strong caramel malt with some nice touch of toffee. Taste is a mix between some deep rich and somewhat sweet caramel malt notes with some nice touch of toffee which were not expected but well enjoyed. Fuller body then expected with some good carbonation and no apparent alcohol. Body is lot more creamy then expected and overall I enjoyed this beer a lot more then I had expected. TungstenGT (10), Birmingham, Alabama, USA Aug 17, 2008 Great color and pour. I liked the aroma, but the taste was a little less than what the aroma promised. Not a bad beer, but not my favorite Sam Adams. kosko20 (73), Bemidji, Minnesota, USA Aug 14, 2008 I really liked the aroma of this, a strange/different smell but very pleasant. A fruity caramel with chocolate. Very well balanced and appeasing. The appearance was also spectacular, dark ruby with an off white head. Flavor was not quite as nice as the aroma but was still good; raisins, bread, caramel, butter and malts. Palate was decently smooth but with a lot of Samuel Adams, it didn’t do much for me. Overall, my favorite Sam Adam so far. blutt59 (624), Dallas, Texas, USA Aug 10, 2008 bottle, medium red color pour, nice lasting head, malty fruit nose, red licorice, fruit and bready flavors, finish is a bit watery and metallic hopdog (4525), Lansdale, Pennsylvania, USA Aug 9, 2008 12oz bottle. Poured a medium and cloudy orangish color with an averaged sized off white head. Aromas of some earthiness, bready, and toasted caramel. Tastes of caramel, bread, and lighter earthiness.
