COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Unfiltered and hazy, this deep mahogany brew pours with a dense creamy head. The slight tartness of malted rye is balanced with sweeter roasted malted barley notes of cocoa and toffee. Malted barley, hand roasted by our brewers, adds a subtle smoky finish reminiscent of colonial brewing.

This beer was very interesting and different. Had some dark fruit flavors, and a graham cracker maltiness, full of cooked grains and some caramel and toffee. I would say the 2nd best from this offering.

Bottle. Hazy unfiltered brown pour. Nice lacing. Slight wheat taste but is overpowered nicely by a caramel kick. Probably one of the better offerings from this collection.

My favorite from this collection. Caramel and malt with a slight sweet wheatiness. Very enjoyable.

brown unfiltered pour with small beige head. Nose is primarily wheat with malts and chocolate and a nice caramel kick. Flavor is roasted malt with some nice off but nice chocolate. Not bad, but not the greatest.

12 oz. bottle from BevMo, consumed fresh just after release in summer 2006. Pours cloudy brown with orange hightlights and a thick beige head that leaves ample lace. Aroma is wheaty sweet and also a bit sour, like a dark brown sourdough bread, hints of dark fruits, some roastiness and herbal notes. Sweet and roasty, fruity and yeasty, with lots of wheat, floral and herbal flavors with a hint of citrus in the finish. Medium to ful body, fairly still, with little carbonation. Like most of these special series SA brews, I enjoyed the smelling and sniffing more than the actual drinking.

Dark brown - a little red. The nose is of toffee. Coffee, cocoa and malty in flavor. The best of the old school four pack.
