COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Unfiltered and hazy, this deep mahogany brew pours with a dense creamy head. The slight tartness of malted rye is balanced with sweeter roasted malted barley notes of cocoa and toffee. Malted barley, hand roasted by our brewers, adds a subtle smoky finish reminiscent of colonial brewing.

Bottle sampled on 3/3/07: Pours a dark copper orange with a nicely-lacing off-white head. Aroma of slightly toasty, dry, grainy wheat with a touch of milk chocolate. Body starts with a touch of caramel maltiness with some grainy wheat and toasty notes toward a thinner bittersweet finish.

Bottle pours a murky maple syrup color with moderate sustained off white head. Slightly toasty nose with some spicey, burnt sugar notes. Dunkelweizen flavors, lightly sour malts and soft carbonation. Pretty accurate to style I would think.

UPDATED: MAR 27, 2007 Pours a four finger light tan head that fades to a ring leaving some lace. Cloudy amber color. Light carbonation and light bodied. Wheat/malty nose. Flavor has sweetness from the malt and there is wheat and yeast coming through as well. $9.99 - 4-pak, 12oz bottle from Shaw’s Supermarket Concord, NH.

Poured a hazy amber color with a small creamy off-white head. The aroma was big sweet and malty. Good notes of caramel, dried dark fruits, apples and raisins. The flavor is on the bland side after a nice aroma.. Mild wheaty lemon notes. Some maltiness...dull. Light to medium bodied.

12oz. burnt amber/mahogany haze with an admirable foamy head; reveals a nice lacing. pleasant aromas of ripe citrus, lemon peel, subtle spice, and caramel malts. tastes like a hefe, but with a certain nougat-caramel thickness to it. thus, "dark wheat beer". could use more spice/hops/tingly mouthfeel, but it’s alright. the finish was a tad thin, but no harm no foul. a good attempt by boston brew co.
