3 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
Pour is a clear amber with a large white head. Aroma is a nice pine hop with a bit of mint in there. Flavor is a bit of dull malts with almost no hops presence. Some sweet fruitiness is left on the tongue. Ok but nothing great. Hops do not shine and I really donít know what juniper tastes like but I guess its in there.

3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 11/20
Type: 12-oz. bottle
Glass: Firestone pint glass
From: VONS in Normal Heights (San Diego), Calif.
Price: $14.99 for a winter variety 12-pack
Purchased: Nov. 1, 2013
Consumed: Nov. 1, 2013
Misc.: Enjoy by March 2014
Poured a honey caramel clear color with 3-to-4 fingers of khaki white head. Lots of uneven foamy lacing along the sides of the glass. Fantastic retention on the top all the way down.
Smelled a mix between blackberries and blueberries, which I assume are juniper berries. Also grape, soapy notes, caramel, faint pine, light floral hops, citrus hops, wet Cascade hops and a musky finish.
Light-to-medium body. Oily-to-creamy texture. Average-to-soft carbonation. Very bitter finish.
Not that big a fan of this beer. I will most likely not have another one after this. Well after the other one in this variety 12-pack.

3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
Rated on 10-27-2013 (Bottle) This beer pours a large semi-fizzy ivory head with a long retention, transparent golden body, fair amount of lacing, and slow rising carbonation. The Aroma is citrus and pine hops, semi-sweet, berries, and some caramel malt. The Taste is semi-sweet, bitter, caramel malt, citrus hops, and has a short dry finish. The Palate is smooth and this beer is medium bodied. Overall, this beer is very quaffable, hops all around as should be the case given this beerís style, and a beer worth trying.

3.3 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
12 oz. Clear copper-amber with a quarter inch meringue-like head. Nose of evergreen, orange caramel and tea leaf. Taste is evergreen, mint, and touches of caramel and citrus. Light-medium body feels a bit thin, is well balanced and has medium carbonation. Nice concept, but the beer needs to be bigger if itís to stand up to the juniper.

3.4 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 13/20
This bottled brew from a grocery store poured a head of foamy finely sized off-white colored bubbles that were and left behind a typically carbonated transparent light red brown colored body and an excellent lacing. The mild aroma was of blue Juniper like the plant. The mild citrus hop crisp mouth feel was tingly at the start and at the finish with a lingering hoppy aftertaste. The nice flavor contained notes of blue Juniper and hops. A decent one that I would consider drinking again.

3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
12oz bottle from the winter pack, pours a clear copper amber with a white head that sticks around a little bit, good lacing, aroma has a good amount of the juniper coming through, quite a bit of pine and fruit, the flavor has a sweet front end with the pine and the hops coming through in the finish, being a fan of gin I really didnít mind the juniper at all, others it could be kind of off putting.

3.4 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
Bottled, as part of the Samuel Adams "Winter Favorites" sampler pack. Pours a clear, dark golden with a small, bright-white head. Nice, multi-layered lacing. Aroma is mild-to-moderate pine, light caramel candies, and faint grapefruit/orange zest. Taste is mildly sweet up front, but quickly grows in bitterness (bringing flavors of grapefruit, pine tar, mild leather), slightly waning into a mildly sweet juniper berry sendoff. Finish is a bit dry and medicinal with more leather notes. As it warms, you can start to pick up the mild juniper berry highlight in the aroma. Although the aroma was a bit one-dimensional, the juniper lends a subtlety sweet accompaniment to the caramel malts, balancing a solid piney/citrusy IPA base. Would work well as a year-round IPA.
